AOC: "They have released chaos in LA by violently raiding & ripping apart peaceful public spaces, and now they are tackling & arresting US sitting members of Congress, while going on the record & lying about what happened.

Jesus said he came to bring good news to the poor. Those in power who are claiming they want a “Christian nation” are only bringing good news to the rich and powerful while creating cruel conditions for the poor. They want “Christianity” without the inconvenience of Christ.

America cannot long remain free, nor first among nations, if it becomes the kind of place where universities are dismantled because they don't align politically with the current head of the government.

Pres, Gagliardi, of the 🇺🇸 Federation of Musicians: “We will not remain silent as 2 of our members Bruce Springsteen & Taylor Swift r singled out & personally attacked by the POTUS. S&S r not just brilliant musicians, they r role models & inspirations 2 millions of ppl in the US & across the🌍” 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

He truly is the biggest crybaby in all of human history, and it just saddens me that so many men think he’s a tough guy, that so many men think he’s a real “man.” He’s the antithesis of a real man. He’s a liar, a coward, a crybaby, and a cheat. Nothing manly about any of that.

500K Mexican-Americans served in the U.S. armed forces in WWII, as did millions of 1st and 2nd-gen immigrants, and 109K noncitizens. Mexican immigrant Macario Garcia won the Medal of Honor in Normandy. When he returned to the US, he was was arrested for trying to eat at a segregated restaurant.

Another outrage; another unjustified detention. We live under a cruel administration

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com Three Yale professors who have written extensively on authoritarianism are leaving the U.S. “We’re like people on the Titanic saying our ship can’t sink,” Marci Shore said. “And what you know as a historian is that there is no such thing as a ship that can’t sink.”

Weber: I'm glad you're addressing us instead of speaking to the camera. … AOC: There are 13.7 million Americans on the other side of that screen. Hello. I’m talking to you because I work for you. They deserve to see what is happening here..

I am pleased to have this article, “The End of Rule of Law in America” in The Atlantic this morning. Thank you, Jeffrey Goldberg, @theatlantic.com, @washingtonweekpbs.social, @adriennelaf.bsky.social, @beccarosen.bsky.social

Is it just me, or does it feel like Kilmar Abrego Garcia and Andry Hernandez Romero are beginning to slowly drift from the public consciousness? We simply cannot allow ourselves to be distracted from the mission of bringing these two men back to the U.S.!

This is so true, but the party behind him should also share the blame

Happy Europe Day!

We are not under invasion. There is no justification for suspending our constitutional rights. Every single American should speak out against this, loudly and forcefully.

An incredibly important case

Yes. The sooner the better

I remember how they taught us about Columbus Day in elementary school in the 1950s; I bet this is what they want to bring back, and Manifest Destiny too!

@gavinnewsom.bsky.social: "This is the cornerstone of what makes America, America. To defy a federal judge's order... The Founding Fathers did not live and die for this moment. If you want this democratic republic to survive, that has to be called out with clarity and conviction." [email protected]

I’m sick of political experts who say Democrats should focus on the price of groceries and not focus on the violation of civil liberties. Allowing basic civil liberties to be denied is how democracy dies. And btw, voters are capable of caring about BOTH the price of eggs and the denial of freedoms.

A grand decision by the Supreme Court to slow things down and seriously assess the constitutionality of these alien act deportations, with only Alito and Thomas dissenting

Definitely worth listening to

The waves crash with timeless rhythm along the rugged coast of Inis Meáin, #Ireland. Part of the Aran #Islands, Inis Meáin is known for its wild Atlantic beauty, traditional stone walls, and deep connection to #Irish heritage. [Damien Marshall]

I can't emphasize enough that the most important thing journalists can do right now is publish exactly this kind of article

Thank you. Your concern and your actions honor America.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia lived in Maryland with his wife and their three children, and has never been charged with any crime. The Department of Homeland Security issued him a work permit, and he joined a union, working full time as a sheet metal apprentice.

Judge Xinis in Tuesday eve order homes in on key issue: "Abrego Garcia appears to remain inexplicably detained in CECOT." She cites text in written agreement with El Salvador showing US control: That detainees are kept in CECOT “pending the United States’ decision on their long-term disposition.”

I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you. The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

when they go low, we go Jasmine Crockett @repjasmine.bsky.social 🔥

BREAKING: SCOTUS will require the government to facilitate the return of Abrego Garcia — but remands to district court to clarify its directive

“Now that Trump has bought us four years, it is the perfect time for you to begin building the restored America in rural Tennessee.” @kieraevebutler.bsky.social reports on the Highland Rim Project, which is building techno-libertarian neighborhoods with Christian values throughout rural America.

Repeat after Kamala Harris: "Recession by the middle of next year" *or sooner SHE TRIED TO WARN YOU.

Trade deficits sound scary, but aren’t. Buying more from a grocery store than it buys from you is normal - so is a trade deficit. Trade deficits are often larger when we have money to spend. Setting tariffs based on trade deficits is like taxing your grocery store hoping it’ll shop at your house.

Insane.

This is a grave injustice and a dark stain on America

Such an embarrassing idiot we have for President (we could have had Kamala)

Breaking, per NBC News @garygrumbach.bsky.social -- Judge Paula Xinis in the District of Maryland has ruled that the United States Government must return Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States by April 7 at 11:59p

News: FEMA must "immediately comply" with an order to disburse federal funding to 22 states and Washington, D.C., a federal judge ruled. Judge McConnell finds the agency's "manual review" of grant payments violates his injunction. Doc storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Trump’s tariffs = a TAX on YOU while Congress stays silent. This isn’t Liberation Day - it’s taxation without representation. m.youtube.com/watch?v=DoRo...

America has never been subject to this level of authoritarianism, and quite frankly, sheer incompetence. Out of the ashes, this moment should radicalize us to embark on an era of new reform — of our economy, our democracy, and our commitment to social justice and the law.

to be fair, if you go to disney world and watch american history presentations they reference the genocide against native americans and slavery. yes, they lean heavy into patriotic rah-rah stuff but the mouse (at least for now) doesnt do a total whitewash.

It is a nation of fools who elected the lunatic. Stop excluding the American electorate from sharing the blame. Our redemption, if we deserve one, requires facing up to this

This is unconscionable and should be unconstitutional. Can we order the government to retrieve those wrongfully sent to that Salvadoran prison?

Can we please remember that John Adams literally represented the Redcoats who did the Boston Massacre. Like, if you’re going to wave the goddamn flag and say that lawyers ought not to represent clients you disagree with or who are allegedly guilty, then you’re just confused about American lawyers.

“‘The government is treating us like criminals based only on our tattoos, or because we’re Venezuelan, without a proper investigation or a prosecutor offering any evidence.’”
