🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands. Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵

Best image of the day:

they're having a hard time hiding their boredom

As seen at the Ferndale, MI #NoKings protest today:

Especially if you're on the fence about it, protest today. Fascism is isolating and lonely. Its very goal is to make you feel like you're the only person unwilling to accept a cult of personality. On days like today you fully realize there are more of us than there are them. You will feel better.

We can’t afford healthcare because we need that money to shoot rubber bullets into the stomachs of people who don’t want their neighbors to get kidnapped.

I feel like maybe the framing of Trump sending the military to put down protests as a "feud" between Trump and Newsom is a little weird?

We need multiple forms of protest, multiple avenues of resistance, many ways to be pushing against these horrors at once. There are going to start to be more protests, and that’s good, but we need strikes, slowdowns, document leaks, boycotts. We need loud public voices and refusals to comply.

Job Corps has helped countless Michiganders find a career and build a better life. The Trump administration's decision to pause this program will hurt Michigan families and our economy. As a longtime supporter of Job Corps, I'll keep fighting to protect it.

Expanding HUD’s ā€œMoving to Workā€ authority would let agencies raise rents & cut off aid, putting seniors, people with disabilities, and families with kids at greater risk of losing housing. Voucher programs would face eroding funding due to block granting. www.cbpp.org/research/hou...

Baldwin to RFK Jr: "Is funding for Alzheimer's research centers DEI? Because you're holding up $65m for 14 of those centers in 9 states, including UW Madison. Is funding for cancer centers DEI? Because you're holding up $47m in cancer center support grants at 9 cancer centers in 8 states."

The GOP plan kicks 8.6 million off of Medicaid. Rural hospitals will suffer, kids will lose care & people will get sick, all to give billionaires tax breaks. Medicaid is a promise to take care of each other. Trump wants to break it. Families lose, billionaires win. I’m a Hell NO!

This budget bill is stealing healthcare, housing, and retirement from seniors and low-income folks to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.

Please do not talk about debt or deficit with the GOP bill. Talk about killing healthcare and billionaire tax cuts.

CFPB employees can't own stocks in companies that the agency regulates. A DOGE employee was warned by ethics lawyers that he held nearly $700K in stock in such companies. He then carried out mass firings at the agency – including those ethics lawyers. The corruption couldn’t be any more blatant.

My mom was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2013 and after going through a stem cell transplant, she was prescribed Revlimid. She wouldn't have been able to afford the drug if it weren't for a research study and then a patient assistance program. Luckily, 15 years later she is still with us!

A new report found that Elon Musk faced at least $2.37 billion in potential legal liability from 11 federal agencies on inauguration day. Many are now on DOGE's chopping block or have dropped their investigations into Musk's corporations. "Conflict of interest" is an understatement.

Boycotting the grocery store until they start buying an equivalent volume of groceries from me

Breaking: Stellantis announces they are immediately laying off 900 American workers at five auto plants across the US because of Trump’s tariffs.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive. No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief. 1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

Thousands of the best experts at FDA, NIH, and all across HHS are being terminated right now. These are the people who make sure the medications you and your children take are safe. These are the people who perform and oversee research on cancer, infant health, and so so so much more.

This is the real story. These people want to see a privatized America where they can have free reign and no oversight to their unethical, exploitive business methods that enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else.

This scoop is now free for all to read: www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

SNAP fights hunger in Michigan, helping 1.4M+ people & bringing $3B to the state. With 13% of households facing food insecurity, we can’t afford cuts. In 2023 alone, it fed 460K+ kids & pumped $3.6B into local businesses. Congress, #ProtectSNAP! TODAY — Watch #MIDems at 3:00 PM: bit.ly/4c2lpCr

White House says no one will be fired over the Signal scandal because no one involved was trying to cure cancer.

2022: "The Supreme Court would NEVER overturn Roe v. Wade!" 2025: "The administration would NEVER take away Social Security!"

so cool to announce that you're killing the Interagency Council on Homelessness (2021 budget $4 million) at midnight on a Frday

The US Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) focuses on preventing & ending homelessness. Dissolving it (and devastating cuts to HUD, SAMHSA etc) will hamper efforts to address homelessness—as the these policies dramatically worsen an existing catastrophe. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

I was told we needed to eliminate foreign aide so we could focus on American homelessness, and now we are eliminating the US interagency council on homelessness. It’s almost as if they are constant and consistent liars.

Donald Trump signed an executive order trying to eliminate The United States Interagency Council on Homelessness. Cruelty is the point.

Thank you @slotkin.senate.gov! Now it's @peters.senate.gov turn

ALERT: I've heard from a high up source that Slotkin is against the GOP funding bill, but Gary Peters may vote for it. If you're in Michigan, please call both. Tell Slotkin thank you, and urge Peters to vote against cloture (not just against the bill). Peters: 202-224-6221 Slotkin: 202-224-4822

Thank you @slotkin.senate.gov! Now it's @peters.senate.gov turn

Some days you just wanna give up , let everything go and follow the light inside of a red cabbage

Medicare has allowed my parents to access life saving treatments that wouldn’t have been attainable otherwise. Don’t mess with angry seniors

And we thought Adrian Brody went long!

SCOOP: Now that Linda McMahon is confirmed/sworn in as secretary, Trump will be imminently issuing an executive order eliminating the Department of Education. I’ve obtained a draft of an email that McMahon will be sending to staff re: the EO and the department’s ā€œfinal missionā€. Here is a portion:

As a society, we need to retire saying "Let's gooooo!" #Survivor

🚨On the same day they're mass ending HUD contracts too

This would be terrible and not help a single person in need of accessible housing.

Murphy: "This is a constitutional crisis that we are in today. Let's call it what it is."

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

Hi, I am @motherjones.com' disability reporter. In the following weeks, I am very interested in hearing how tariff nonsense impacts getting your meds and medical equipment. My email to get in touch is [email protected]. Reposts appreciated.
