A few years ago I played hooky from work to attend a massive flyover of the Mall of a bunch of WW2 aircraft on the 75th anniversary of VE Day. IIRC, it was pretty much a random Thursday. There was bigger crowd for that.

Anyone who has ever spent time in the Reserve components knows there is no damned way the Guard was mobilized and deployed in a few hours. It probably took that long just to get the Armory unlocked.
