pop quiz for Trump: the american flag has how many stars? the american flag has how many stripes? c'mon dude, we learned this in first grade

A right-winger -- a registered Republican, a Trump voter, an evangelical anti-abortion activist -- assassinates a Democratic official. Republicans respond by blaming the left. Democrats respond by blaming ... no one.

If you’re thinking “oh damn they made a good product, this bums me out” the answer is the same answer it is for every company that made a quality product

"herewith ordered, by notice of this TRUTH" is absolutely insane shit that would be a month-long news cycle for literally *any* normal politician guy who literally thinks that Posting (on his own vanity social network!) just creates laws out of thin air

GET SALTMARSHED IDIOT 🧂

sadly this post Escaped Containment enough to have people completely missing the point and 'splaining metropolitan statistical areas to me. time to mute it

this is what patrol cops should look like in most cases. you can make exceptions for particular types of calls or whatever, i'm not the dress code police, but, *generally speaking*, it should be easy to identify who is police at a distance without trying to figure out if they're a spree shooter.

(natural) earthquakes are common in Iran

Want a depressing fact? Google announces they’ve purchased a property near Columbus Ohio for a new data center. That undeveloped business park is one of the only places around here that hosts Grasshopper Sparrows, a rapidly declining state-endangered bird.

adventures in small-town advertising

One highlight of the day was when Boston Mayoral candidate Josh Kraft went by and NOBODY made a sound. While she’s not perfect, we all know Michelle Wu is the better choice.

The 3.5% rule comes from @chenoweth.bsky.social's incredible research. It's commonly misunderstood or misused in public discourse, but it's still a very helpful goal to aspire to. In my opinion, the biggest misconception is that you need to simply activate 3.5% of the public once.

has the exact same problem as Conservapedia, the right-wing Wikipedia fork. "we'll take all of collective human knowledge and then just selectively replace our personal culture-war beefs of the day" isn't something you can tractably "fix" at scale; it will always end in self-contradictory nonsense.

Hi everyone I was denied entry, detained, and deported from the USA over the last 48 hours because of my reporting on the Columbia student protests I arrived back in Melbourne hours ago and had my phone handed back to me upon landing

a million people is 1.5x the entire population of Boston proper

Today in Boston. Over a million people turned out. Even the drone couldn't get it all. #NoKingsDay #BostonStrong #ICEProtest

If any people outside the U.S. still feel compelled to criticize Americans for not waking up fast enough (stop), we're fighting multiple fronts here, one of which is against the very media institution that is *supposed* to be on the side of truth and the people.

I just got back home to finally sit down and watch the parade footage and it’s 100x more embarrassing than I expected. I totally forgot the weak nations that do these spend decades perfecting them. It looked like if Fyre festival did North Korea.

how it started / how it's going

love this for them.

it's the disneyland teacup ride but for truck

I need everyone on Normal People internet to know that American Girl Doll Instagram is doing doll protests today. There are tiny t-shirts and signs. AND THEN I realized it's a joint protest with the Barbie ppl, where there are EVEN TINIER SIGNS.

In honor of it being Pride in my borough tomorrow, I want you all to know that I know enough Irish to get this joke before I saw the explanation

1m people allegedly in boston today. the scale of this is just crazy. i think record-breaking www.wcvb.com/article/more...

Do you know how badly you have to screw up as a Republican to get this kind of turnout in IDAHO? #NOKINGS
