Elon Musk’s drug consumption went well beyond occasional use....he was taking so much ketamine, that it was affecting his bladder...He took Ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms [and] traveled with a daily medication box that held about 20 pills, including...Adderall. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/u...

Another dispatch this one from 290 Broadway immigration court, where I watched government prosecutors dismiss deportation cases, only for ICE to detain people in the lobby below. www.thecity.nyc/2025/05/29/i...

I don’t know how many times we have to say this, but the U.S. government is not a business and shouldn’t be run like one. It’s a service—for the people.

wife: hi honey how was work ice agent who earlier ripped a father away from his crying children moments after the government tricked him into appearing at an immigration hearing: oh you know, same old same old

Iowa has repeatedly disappointed in the past, but I think Josh is onto something here.

Even before latest thing I've been telling people for months Joni Ernst is way more vulnerable next year than people think. Dems should be investing a lot right now laying the ground work in the state.

NOW— Mass ICE arrests happened/are happening at the Manhattan immigration court at 290 Broadway on the 20th floor. I was just outside the building and an observer came out crying, confirmed they witnessed people getting detained outside courtrooms while families watched and wept.

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

i have begun to use “wicked” to describe these people. it is old fashioned but captures the active nature of their malevolence. they are *agents* of evil

I'm sure I'm not the first nor will I be the last, but I really love that for Jake. He's well and truly earned it.

"I’m just hoping that this is not my last podcast that is not from a prison cell in El Salvador . . . some awful place like that or perhaps Guantánamo Bay." -Financial Times columnist Robert Armstrong, who coined the phrase "Taco Trade," and apparently upset Trump www.ft.com/content/2d20...

Don’t cry now, this is EXACTLY what you MAGA dumbasses voted for. Welcome to the finding out stage.

For starters, Democrats need to actually field a candidate against Mike Johnson, unlike the 2022 and 2024 campaigns when they let him run unopposed. The odds of unseating him will be long, but use the campaign to put him on defense and make our version of Pierre Poilievre sweat a little.

Gold standard science

Our first confirmed case of something we’ve been warning about since the explosive growth of Flock license plate surveillance to thousands of jurisdictions across the nation: the capacity for this technology to be used to surveil abortion-seekers.

In normal times, DOJ wins most of its cases because it has the resources to ensure that presidential actions are lawful. But under Trump, the Department is run by a sycophantic election denying enabler. The result is DOJ's credibility with judges is in tatters and it is losing case after case.

Foxx: This is the American Dream story they all claim to support. I’m a first-generation American, raised by a single mom in Section 8 housing. SNAP benefits—food stamps—put food on our table. Those social safety nets—they are not handouts, they are hand-ups.

This anomaly--that the grandson of a man who was born 235 years ago and elected president 184 years ago was still alive--has always fascinated me. American history is very long and very short and always weird. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/29/u...

The flood of encomiums and morality tales about Elon's turn in Washington cldn't be more predictable, vapid & sickening. If you want a story, get me the story about the crisis comms team directing this. He ran anti-constitutional blitzkrieg thru the federal government, did massive harm, violated ...

Couldn't agree more with this. It's jaw-dropping to see the patty cake people are playing with him after what was a full constitutional assault that, oh by the way, is almost certainly going to lead to tens of thousands of people in the global south dying needlessly.

it's pretty wild how throughout all of history nobody who has ever decided to argue that "actually a little bigotry is okay" ends up looking like one of the good guys and yet people are still lining up left and right for the opportunity to do so in the paper of record

Starting a PAC called Fourth Way that just does the opposite of these people.

New York has a higher per-capita income, a lower crime rate and a functional insurance system.

SCOOP: The State Department's new reorganization plan includes the opening of an "Office for Remigration," a term popularized by far right extremists and neo-Nazis in Europe. The office will coordinate directly with DHS "to advance the President’s immigration agenda." My report:

1/ If I were pregnant, or considering ever becoming pregnant, I would be so outraged at RFK delisting COVID vaccination. Not only are unvaccinated women much more likely to miscarry or have a stillbirth if they contract COVID but it leaves newborns, who are extra susceptible, extremely vulnerable.

‘La piel que habito’ (The Skin I Live In, 2011). Directed by Pedro Almodóvar and cinematography by José Luis Alcaine. A film that deserves more recognition.

yeah that quote from adam squires is genuinely chilling

Ashes to Ashes the music video by David Bowie… His aesthetic as the clown, the padded cell and references to his past albums and songs… “Designer Natasha Korniloff based Bowie's costume on the character of Pierrot, a diminutive of Pierre (Peter) or Pedrolino, a sad clown.”
