Was the State Library of Queensland forced by the state arts minister to rescind Ren Wyld's book prize & fellowship after she'd travelled to Brisbane for the ceremony? If you punish someone for opposing genocide, you need to say that out loud for the record, not just leak it to the Oz. How shameful.

Apparently spam comments are going around on Ao3 telling people to delete their fic because they are writing for a "deprecated" fandom and Ao3 needs server space... DO NOT DELETE your fics! 1. There are no or ever deprecated fandoms. 2. Ao3 is an ARCHIVE it was created as a safe space and...

Here it is, finally. The truth. In a landmark #greenwashing legal case brought by @parentsforclimate.bsky.social, #EnergyAustralia has publicly acknowledged that offsets do not undo the harms of burning fossil fuels & apologised to more than 400,000 customers of its carbon #offsetting product

your regular reminder that buying Harry Potter stuff gives money to Rowling and she uses that money directly and in large quantities to fund attacks on trans people no ethical consumption under capitalism and all but “don’t buy Potter stuff” is an extremely easy baseline to follow

"I reported you and I need you to do this thing so I can undo the report/the site wants me to share this thing about the report" is ALWAYS a scam. Always. There is absolutely no scenario where it's legitimate.

I often underrate Emma, simply because I love Persuasion and P&P so much, but it really is full of Jane’s sickest burns.

This kid is 15, and so has a moral clarity and uprightness that no adult elected official would or could ever have. There aren't really and never have been two sides of this issue, but if it has to be argued as a binary thing I don't see how anything less than this could seem like the side to be on.

The kids on Tumblr know what's what

I'm considering banning everything associated with 'orange' from my life. I may have to dye my juice, but it will be worth it.

The european citizens' initiative to ban conversion therapies in the EU only has 250k signatures and needs to amass 1 million in the next 7 days... If you live in the EU, please sign it (you can't otherwise); if you don't, please share it around.

Not just someone, something. Anything. This is genuinely profound, to my little brain.

I have re-watched Tom Holland's lip sync vid twice today. I regret nothing.

I dreamt that I was back in the UK, meeting up with my friends in a cafe. And when I finally managed to get there, they were all at this large table but I ended up sitting at the other end of it surrounded by people I've worked with in the past that I really didn't like much. Thanks brain.

the fundamental disconnect between the manosphere and reality is that they are incapable of understanding that this is - according to every woman I’ve ever met - the sexiest thing a man has ever done

This comment is clearly made in affectionate jest but I will say that over time I have been heartily relieved to discover my psyche understands the concept of "enough," and also that money is a tool to make lives better, not a cudgel to keep others down. I have my failures, but avarice isn't one.

"For decades progressive voters have been told that Australians can’t have the nice things people in other developed countries take for granted because the Liberals and the Murdoch media would never accept such a progressive challenge... no need to be scared anymore." - @richarddenniss.bsky.social

Just passing along some friendly advice on how to approach potential changes to the Australian health care system @drruthmitchell.bsky.social

I honestly can’t agree more. I don’t have a single woman in my life who hasn’t had an encounter. Yet, we have not seen women gravitating towards harmful and violent behavior towards others as a result of centuries of being harassed and dismissed.

I think a lot about what Carl Sagan said in one of his final interviews.

Hey, Dutton! Expelliarmus!

Democracy sausage ftw! In the several elections, federal and local, that have happened since we returned from the UK, this is the first where the local polling station had democracy sausage. No fascists, small minded bigots, billionaires, or science deniers benefitted from my visit.
