Just finished reading Becoming Madam Secretary by Stephanie Dray, a novel about Frances Perkins. Perkins was Franklin Roosevelt’s Secretary of Labor and the person who made Social Security happen. Highly recommended by me. Infuriating that GOP is doing everything they can to undo it.

I am pleased the we have Leo 14. But Until now an American pope would not have been considered because the Catholic Hierarchy viewed the US as too powerful, too wealthy and too influential. This should be a warning.
