This afternoon, Iowa HHS reported first confirmed measles case in the state since 2019. Patient is "unvaccinated adult"; no details on whether this person traveled recently. "Currently 84% of 2-year-olds in Iowa are vaccinated, which is below the 95% threshold required to prevent outbreaks."

I'm concerned (worried) that many folks who are enrolled in Medicaid, may not even know it, and, therefore, don't know to feel threatened by the proposed cuts. Medicaid in various states is identified by local sounding names. HoosierHealth, HuskyHealth, etc...Google it.

I grew up in the western foothills/southern piedmont of NC. As soon as I saw the news of Helene, I knew the devastation in these small towns just to our north was inevitable. This is the one of the best pieces of journalism I have read in recent memory. incredible, heartbreaking stories. read this.
