Giving Pink Floyd's "The Division Bell" a chance for the first time and digging it.

In our age of unmitigated consumerism it really shouldn't be this hard for me to find a decent Rush "Fly by Night" t-shirt for my daughter.

My laptop is just barely able to play Expedition 33 and I’m glad I took a chance on it. I’m not normally into turn-based combat, but the parry system is really fun.

Never fully clicked in my head that it was Van Morrison doing the chorus on the “Comfortably Numb” live recording they used in The Departed. I just thought about it and looked up the album. What a lineup of guests. Joni Mitchell, the Band, Cyndi Lauper, etc.

Christ is risen. God bless you all this Easter.

Not to downplay the real-world impacts of the economic crisis, but I do take solace in the fact that the worst people in the country have lashed themselves to the mast of policies that will have objectively disastrous impacts on the US economy, and all within the first few months of the admin.

It’s been a few hundred years, I think it’s time for us to quietly admit that indulgences are silly and stop talking about them.

Love to be responsible for a billing system that takes in thousands of dollars a day and is built with the code equivalent of chewing gum and popsicle sticks.

“He is dancing, dancing. He says that he will never die.”

Maybe this is too cynical of me, but I can't help but think that Trump going after the people pardoned by Biden might be good for giving the democratic leadership a little skin in the game.

Would be wonderful on so many levels if the current twitter outage was permanent.

You cannot, in fact, "disenchant" Christianity. You don't have to be twee about it, but the role of good and evil spiritual beings in human life is a central concern across the New Testament and is fundamental to the gospels' presentation of Christ's victory on the Cross.

Just did a bug fix related to a frontend pull request I had made previously. Assumed the old PR was recent and was confused how the bug was happening when we haven't changed the relevant API code since last year. Turns out the old PR was from 2021. I feel rather old right now.

St. Augustine, "The City of God"

We're fairly restrictive about giving our toddler sweets and I think that's a good idea for now but it also makes me feel a little guilty when she starts playing pretend about something like "ice cream", which she's never had.

My toddler is obsessed with Turkish pilav, but makes a mess with it. Part of our after-dinner reading ritual is her occasionally finding a grain attached to her shirt and showing it to me while declaring "RICE", followed by eating it and saying "yummy".

"Goodnight, Canada. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely annex you in the morning."

This was satire when they wrote it, but... open.spotify.com/track/5imK5M...

I miss the days when EO meant Eastern Orthodox.

Babylon as an antitype of the Church in Habakkuk

Recently discovered that the kids music artist my daughter likes, "Caspar Babypants", is in fact the former singer for Presidents of the United States of America.

Discussions of childcare costs really highlight the difficulty most people have distinguishing between "how much workers should be compensated for work" and "how much I want/can afford to pay for that work".

I may not know Greek, but I gotta say that this, from the Ignatius study Bible on Matthew, sure sounds like cope to me.
