this is an elite thing, but i also just see it among my lib friends--the feeling that even knowing stuff about how modern militaries operate is a bit distasteful, impure, sus--"why are you so interested in all that military stuff? isn't that a conservative thing?"

Total stations are not cameras.

It is really really sinking in for me the degree to which LLMs are the ultimate expression of right wing anti-intellectualism. Its proponents are literally mocking the idea that anyone would ever want to learn anything, know anything, develop any actual skill, or have a thought of their own.

Periodic reminder that every day is STFU Friday Also, sharing the location of cops in the public performance of their jobs is ironclad First Amendment-protected expression If you're concerned something you've said has you on the Government's radar, call your lawyer instead of posting through it

Gavin Newsom went on TV, called Tom Homan a bitch, and said he if he wanted arrest him he knew where to find him. Maxine Waters told an ICE agent to his if they planned to shoot her they should at least shoot straight. I really don't know what you want from them right now.

This week, our members joined advocates to urge Republican lawmakers to support adequately funding public mass transit. Workers, students, seniors and families all rely on public transportation. We must ensure that public transit is adequately funded.

BREAKING: The opinion of a random person you just encountered online is not, in fact, the universally embraced belief of "the Left" or "Liberals" or whoever else you'd like to paint with a broad brush. More as this story develops.

The people who loudly ask why something isn’t being done should seriously consider whether or not they’re the sort of person such plans would be shared with.

Many reasons this from the article is absurd but chief among them is any rigorous maths numbers systems interaction blah blah blah based analysis is going to be underpinned by something that is fundamentally based on odds and therefore chance It's called shot-Pk

Here are some ways the world has gotten better.

It’s kind of amazing that arguably (that is, imo) one of the best pieces of media created in the last decade was largely written to address the absurdity that the Galactic Empire couldn’t defend a crucial thermal exhaust port a few meters wide.

Lucasfilm needs to make a game that’s called “Kleya: Gallery Master” or something where you play as Kleya at Luthen’s gallery and the gameplay alternates between doing blood-soaked calculus at the comm board and schmoozing Coruscanti collectors.

No matter how skilled you are, a styrofoam cup will not do a good job of hammering a nail. And, really, it’s not a terribly good cup either. It’s just cheap. Generative AI is a styrofoam cup.

I really don’t feel like re-litigating whether or not the US had the “most important” role in WWII. Especially when no one says what they think “most important” means. Russian blood. British intelligence. American steel.

Fellas, is she into you if she lets you talk about the battle of Leyte Gulf?

ILLINOIS… Gov. Pritzker…

very struck by the fact that whenever i use this image people will show up to tell me that it is gross and immoral when they could just skeet "i am addicted to losing" and save us all some time

When conservatives said they hated wokeness and DEI they meant they were going to take this from you:

The problem with “defund the police” and its corollary, “abolish the police” is precisely that the demand is the wrong one to make because it is ineffective. “Demilitarize the police” or something, yeah, maybe. You need cops to enforce the rule of law. There’s no way out of that.

The minimum wage of $7.25 is way too low, especially as prices keep rising. We need a govt that helps build an economy that rewards work, not just wealth. Raising the min wage is part of that, so I'm proud to co-sponsor the #RaiseTheWage Act to give roughly 22 million Americans a long-overdue raise.
