'Father Rigney' from 1960. Such a deep indigo color, and the dark beard and raisin brown hafts make it even richer. I am so smitten with this one. #iris 🌱

Finally got some shots of Miss Gingersnap for #Caturday. And a new one of my fat lil' goblin, Miss Pearl. Have a great weekend, everyone!

A few of weeks ago I posted about an iris I had waited 15 years to see bloom. It finally opened. It is correct! Please meet 'Voodoo'. Probably the only plant of it on the planet, and the only photograph of it since it's catalog shot from 1948. I am beyond thrilled. Now if it would just thrive! 🌱

'Calcutta', from 1938. I love this weird smokey variety. The bright gold hafts grab the eye, but it is otherwise unassuming. But a closer look reveals the most amazing color blends. Lavender shot with gold threads and it all sparkles in the sunshine with heavy diamond dusting. #iris 🌱

'Sunset Blaze' is well named, a great grower and bloomer, and just as pretty as can be. I love orange in the garden and this one really delivers. #iris 🌱

My absolute favorite is blooming now. 'Hermit Thrush' by Grant Mitsch (the daffodil guy!). He only registered four irises and I have three of them. Fourth is long gone apparently. The finish on this one is so good. #iris 🌱

'Birchbark' shining bright and glistening with raindrops after a light shower. #iris 🌱

Raindrops glistening like jewels in the late afternoon sun. I love the colors of 'Rebellion'. So rich. What gemstone could compete? #iris 🌱

'Autumn Elf' from 1933 is just as cute as can be. #iris 🌱

Hurray, it's Caturday! Where did Gingersnap go? 🐈

I love this variety so much. Those rich color tones are amazing. Big flowers, tall stems and a good grower and bloomer. This is 'Maroon Damask' from 1946. #iris 🌱

'Humming Bird' from 1952 looking fresh and pretty in the garden right now. #iris 🌱

So many beauties popping open now. The Pacific Coast Irises are in full bloom. Loving this lavender clump. #iris 🌱

And old favorite opened yesterday. This is 'Black And Gold' from 1943. Love that rich chestnut color on the falls and in a wire rim around the standards. So pretty. #iris 🌱

The aptly named 'Sunset Blaze' has started blooming. Always one of the first TBs to kick off the season. Love that color! #iris 🌱

'Pewee' is blooming now. An early example of a Miniature Tall Bearded #iris. 🌱

Anticipation! I have been waiting patiently for 15 years to see if this variety is correct. If it is, it's the only one known on the planet. Finally, this year, it is putting up its first bloom stalk. We will know in a couple of weeks if it is true or if I have wasted all this time. #iris 🌱

'Bluebeard's Ghost' lit up in the sunshine. What a beautiful spring we are having in the PNW. Hope yours is lovely too. #iris 🌱

A selection of cute dwarfs from a friend's garden. #iris 🌱

This unnamed seedling PCI is blooming for me. Picked it up at a garden swap 20 years ago and it is going strong. I like the colors so have kept it. #iris 🌱

A new one for me. This is 'Touch Of Turquoise', which doesn't seem very turquoise to me. More a soft French blue on that fall spot. Oh well. Cute little thing. #iris 🌱

Very much enjoying I. germanica this year. Not sure kitty approves. That's a new-to-me garden ornament from the estate of a friend who passed last winter. I miss her, and this will keep her memory alive in my garden, along with a few of her plants gifted over the years. #iris 🌱

My pacific Coast #iris, 'Poppy', has started blooming. Such nice big flowers, and always an early starter. Hybridized by a friend of mine. Introduced in 1980. 🌱
