RFK Jr. is absolutely poisonous. He has now caused Dr. Lakshmi Panagiotakopoulos, the person in charge of COVID19 vaccinations at the CDC, to resign. She did so because RFK Jr. demanded that the experts in charge of vaccine guidance listen to him and not to the scientific evidence.

I am officially one of The Ancients, Keeper of Knowledge of the Before Time

talked to two people still working at the forest service in rural alaska recently and you guys it is very difficult to describe to you the level of absurdity that defines their waking lives in the post federal-apocalypse

Dr Mcnutt, your speech is a shanda

Yeah, we're not gonna lose most of our scientists to Denmark. We're gonna lose them to high-turnover private biotech, consulting gigs, ad hoc slave copyediting, ai slop mass marketing sales, landscaping labor, pottery stands at the farmers market, cat cafes, Walmart and Costco, etc etc etc

Correct. People who say otherwise either don't understand the numbers, or are engaging in wishful thinking.

Last year we lost one of the two Antarctic research vessels (the Gould). The FY2026 NSF budget request would eliminate the second (the Palmer). The same budget request eliminates funding for the design of a new Antarctic research vessel. These are not losses you can recover from in 4 years.

when I was 15 my fave coworker was a girl a few years older. her last day, last order she dumped a hot sauce in a cheesesteak. the guy came in a few days later asking for ā€œwhatever you girls made me last week.ā€ so honestly just piss in ICE orders you don’t wanna accidentally introduce them to spices

Does this mean the CDC will update its guidance again? www.cbsnews.com/news/cdc-off...

Alright look. Don't all get mad at me. It's almost like he doesn't have a coherent ideology and will do whatever he thinks is most advantageous? Maybe I'm going too far

i worry cuomo is going to win because new yorkers love electing the guy who is most incapable of sounding normal. the other candidates should be out in front of their constituents every day saying stuff like "i enjoy my sliced pies in the old fashioned style. that's right, cheesed and extra juicy"

This man is not a New Yorker. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/03/n...

The way people are talking about the current demolition of research funding and HE legitimacy reminds me of the early days of COVID when I (and others) said it would be at least six years before any normalcy. Rage, despondency, rejection…eventually voting for a dictator just to feel alive.

RealPage and over a dozen of DC's largest landlords acted as a housing cartel. They used RealPage pricing software to illegally collude and push rents even higher. This settlement is the first step in unraveling a scheme that inflated housing costs for thousands of DC renters.

Links 6/3/25 Links for you. Science: An Anti-Science MAHA Extremist Is Playing a Major Role at the FDA. On first glance, Dr. Vinay Prasad’s medical credentials sound impressive. But look closer and you’ll find a narcissistic attention-seeker peddling misinformation, whose views will cost lives.…

As @cmlewisgeorgew4.bsky.social said today in the session DC voters read the initiative and voted overwhelmingly for its timeline as written. This ā€œpauseā€ of the timeline of the wage increase IS by definition a repeal.

MAHA, ā€˜AI’, and Poor PolicyĀ Writing In case you haven't heard, the Trump administration's MAHA political appointees were caught using an LLM (likely OpenAI) to write their MAHA report. I guess we found the federal employees who can be replaced by AI! Snark aside, this really says a lot–none of it…

We were already doing science just fine. Assholes like Parker just didn’t like the conclusions.

putting fema payments on the blockchain ftw

Narrator: Musk is angry that Trump withdrew the nomination of his crony to head NASA.

Trump has so paralyzed the federal agencies responsible for protecting civil servants’ rights that federal employees may now be able to win relief directly from courts instead, the 4th Circuit rules. A very good decision for the independent civil service. knightcolumbia.org/documents/9m...

Science and scientists are close to the most trusted institution and group in the fucking country! Enough with this talking point--the American *people* of all political persuasions *do* trust science! The republicans somewhat less so, but that's because they're being actively propagandized!

Fantastic news. Rents have gone up nearly 30%, and predatory tech companies are colluding with landlords to illegally hike rent and take advantage of working people. Congress should pass my bill that bans this scam nationwide.

random people showing up daily now to shout down masked government thugs with assault rifles and tanks and full military gear for the high-stakes operation of arresting a suspected undocumented line cook sort of feels like something

Prasad says he has never met RFK Jr. when asked why Secretary doesn't want research published in certain journals. he says one of Kennedy's issue is he wants govt papers publicly available - someone in audience yells out this has been policy for 20 years.
