"I want to support indie creators, but I dont have the money for it." Good news! Support is not at all limited to financial contributions! Give that book a glowing review. Invite your friends to play that cool game. Hoot and holler about how much you love that movie. Hype the good shit up!

If Trump unilaterally brings the US into war with Iran, there needs to be a historically large popular and elite mobilization to remove him from office immediately. We simply can’t let a tyrant start WWIII without any form of public support or congressional approval. It’s madness.

Bluesky is full of agitated people giving advice that will get you killed or might, MIGHT, result in your acquittal after the complete destruction of your life. Real life ain’t a flame war, kids.

This looks like a Mucinex commercial

BREAKING: Hours after Donald Trump complained before the G7 that Russia had been kicked out of the global trade coalition, the Kremlin ordered air strikes on Kyiv that killed 15 people—including an American. https://trib.al/caicZmn

If Harris had been elected instead of Trump, there would be hundreds of thousands of children who hadn’t starved to death or died of treatable AIDS and we wouldn’t be on the verge of war with Iran. Anybody who doesn’t acknowledge this as a starting point has nothing to say worth hearing.

I'm extremely grateful today that we have @thecity.nyc. Consistently some of the best, most important local journalism I've ever seen. We need good journos now more than ever.

Would be amazing to get a single piece of media on this topic centered on the right's firehose of bigotry and misinformation rather than "the trans rights movement's shortcomings" www.nytimes.com/2025/06/17/o...

You know things are bad in America when the Onion is just posting banger after banger.

Mike Lee Stresses He Would Have Posted Same Thing If Own Family Savagely Murdered

I cut my own hair most of the time and people always ask, “But how do you do the back?” It’s easy. I simply don’t do a good job.

"I'm happy to report I'm just fine. I lost a button. But I'm gonna sleep in my bed tonight, safe, with my family... At that elevator, I was separated from someone named Edgardo... Edgardo is in ICE detention and he's not going to sleep in his bed tonight."

Continuing my theme of forgetting to post stuff I write, I've been reviewing The Resident (Shondaland's murder-at-the-White-House series. The cast (led by Uzo Aduba as the requisite brilliant, quirky detective) is terrific. The premise is irresistible. The result is resolutely good-but-not-great.

There's no way scientists are only just now learning about grad school

One of my favorite things about this web site is that if you post “this is a not terribly bright child’s view of politics,” invariably someone will show up and spend *hours* waving their arms and shouting, “me!!! It’s me!!! I’m the one you’re talking about!!!”

Remember when the Very Serious People were shocked, SHOCKED at the allegation that Israel would intentionally bomb a hospital? Now they’re just picking off starving civilians for fun.

People on here, regardless if they're left or liberals love to assign many voters deeper motives than they have. A significant amount of people voted Trump because he's the man from the TV that said he'd make things cheap again.

Last year, Kroger's CEO raked in $15.4 million — 457x more than its typical employee. Kroger also announced $7.5 billion in stock buybacks. I don't want to hear that Kroger can't afford to treat its employees fairly. Solidarity to these workers.

I don't want to alarm anyone, but hoopla has a whole dang 2025 eisner nominees section. You can just... read them all. For free. And support your local library at the same time. 😱

if you need to remind yourself that you live on a massive planet full of wonder, I recommend the article "extremes on earth"

prepare for what follows

Now that we’ve seen the full Senate text, we can say for certain: either the House or the Senate version would be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in history. Each have the largest Medicaid and largest SNAP cuts ever. And each give huge tax cuts to the rich.

🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands. Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵

This is obviously ridiculous but it is kind of bleakly funny that this advice more or less has the same beats as advice about what to do if you encounter a bear in the woods, just in terms of the unknowability of the other party. "Make yourself appear larger and the cop will usually run away."

I think we are dangerously underestimating how many jobs we will lose to AI and how deep the spiritual cost will be. The industry tells us strong restrictions on AI will hurt us and help China. I wrote this to explain how they pulling one over on us. www.chrismurphyct.com/p/in-our-scr...

The Times questioning Zohran’s experience kinda just boils down to ideology & racism but the idea of 33 being too young to hold a major political office is so funny. If he was a CEO of a startup that produced something worse than nothing they’d write a glowing feature on his new bold ideas.

The radicalization of the American right is THE story of US politics over the last four decades and political reporters are still not allowed to talk about it

Look, don't call it an endorsement, the New York Times editorial board is just saying it would be wayyyy better to vote for someone whose resignation the paper called for a few years ago than it would be to vote for the guy who wants to tax rich people. hellgatenyc.com/nytimes-vote...

Trump Calls Shooting Victims To Rant About Tim Walz

"Any form of protest that appears the slightest bit emphatic, aggressive, valiant, or physical will completely erase any support from the dozens of Americans still on the fence about the whole 'Elder God Apocalypse' thing."

My office has received many calls from veterans worried they will be denied care by the Department of Veterans Affairs because of their political affiliation or marital status. I call on Secretary Doug Collins to provide a full briefing to Congress and release all relevant documents to the public.
