Jo Cox would have seen “more in common” in action in the House today. Differences of opinion were expressed with respect and thoughtfulness on this assisted dying bill introduced by her sister Kim Leadbeater. Agree or not with the outcome, but this was political debate at its best.

#BBCPoliticsLive A very different tone to today’s programme. Courteous exchange of views, little talking over and no dogmatic adherence to a Party line. Easier perhaps for Jeremy Hunt who’s no longer in the Commons but hearing him admit to specific errors and fallibility was very refreshing.

#BBCPoliticsLive Starmer needs to find a more prominent role for Helena Dollimore. She’s an articulate speaker, presenting clear arguments under pressure. She is a rising star.

#BBCRadio4Today Emma Barnett and Chris Mason fuelling discontent ahead of Rachel Reeves spending plan announcement. Barnett clearly setting up Mason for him to present all possible negativity.

Farage - “What I bring to this now…” is a promise to be all things to all people.

Why, oh why am I watching Farage… Some will see the BBC strapline saying he will back the winter fuel reinstatement with celebration. Whether he backs it or not is an irrelevance - one of his populist statements of the moment. For now at least I can switch off Farage and mute his divisive rhetoric.
