Morning Moff-ers! Keep this years records flowing and treat yourself to a MoffStuff! Merv A5 notebook today! £12.50 (FREE postage) MoffStuff.co.uk #teammoth

Up on Shetland for two days to do some maintenance in the garden & heard an unfamiliar song from the adjacent paddock on Monday morning. Delighted to see an immaculate adult male Red-backed pop up right in front of me for a few seconds before it disappeared into neighbouring gardens. #ukbirding

Local campaign group Sustainable Shetland is one of the signatories of this open letter to First Minister John Swinney.

With the good birding continuing into today, why not come stay at Dungeness Bird Observatory this weekend? #kentbirding

"We fret about Europe’s 21,500 wolves but think it’s environmentally fine to be feeding 92 million dogs in Europe, even though dogs kill an estimated 15,000 sheep in the UK a year, and in 2023 there were 16 human fatalities from dog attacks." observer.co.uk/culture/book...

A cracking week reminding me how lucky I am; there aren’t many places you can see Osprey, Black-throated Divers and Hen Harrier in the same view! And today saw my first Black-throated Diver chicks (tiny black fluffballs!) and my second ever pair of Wood Sands in Scotland 😄 #birdingscotland #birds

Stay at Dungeness Bird Observatory! We have plenty of space in our dormitory accommodation this June, which can be an exciting month, with plenty of things to admire! Email on [email protected] to book. Price is £20 per night but is reduced to £15 for DBO Friends.

Happy 37th anniversary to all those lucky enough to be on Hoy to marvel in the splendour of the White-throated Needletail.

🚨We are hosting a #moth event!🚨

I'm heading to Norfolk next week, up near Hunstanton. Can anyone recommend some good butterfly sites to visit in that area? Thanks in advance @norfolkbutterflies.bsky.social

Delighted to see only my second ever Thrift Clearwing today on the north Aberdeenshire coast (to HYL lure). Always an absolute treat to see any member of this enigmatic family of #teammoth

Fortuitously I'm in the Fraserburgh area for the next couple of days so I dropped in to see the rather lovely Pectoral Sandpiper at Cairnbulg this evening. Pleasantly surprised by just how well it showed and in great light #ukbirding

This bird is thought to be a EASTERN BONELLI'S WARBLER! Still present in the Trapping Area. Please park sensibly, there is a large car park by the Old Lighthouse as well as other car parks across the estate.

I took the slow ferry from Las Palmas, GC, to Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, with the hope of seeing some seabirds. My hopes were exceeded with 1 White-faced Storm-petrel, 3 Barolo's Shearwaters, 21 Bulwer's Petrels plus the more expected 100s of Cory's Shearwaters

Great to get my last North American grouse, Sooty, with two booming males on Vancouver Island this morning despite the poor weather.

Also pleasing to see the refreshing Canadian approach to dogs and wildlife. If only UK conservation organisations were as robust in their approach to dogs and cats!

Featuring an integrated compass and distance scale, the Natura BGA WP DC 8x42 monocular is designed for coastguard services, surveyors and marine watchers. With a wide 7.4° field of view, ED glass and PC Oasis coatings to enhance light transmission, the monocular reveals detail even in poor light.

Next week you can find us at the following Wildlife Trust sites 🌞🔭 13/05 Lockley Lodge Visitor Centre 15/05 Abberton Nature Centre 16/05 Hanningfield Nature Centre 17/05 Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve @wtsww.bsky.social @warwickshirewt.bsky.social @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social

Kerton Pit, near Lydd-on-sea has been gathering waders on the high tides lately. One of the Bar-tailed Godwits on the 1st May was colour ringed - it was ringed in November 2022 in Mauritania, over 3700km away! Giving us an idea of where some of the 10k birds past this spring are coming from.
