Genuinely annoyed that this hasn’t been reported sooner actually

Day 603 of the war on Gaza and journalists still seem to be having trouble with the basic five W’s of reporting. Who? What? When? Why? How? For a reason I cant quite put my finger on, they keep burying the lead: Who is doing this? How did the guns fire? And why were they waiting for food?

Yep. As a train dies, its soul flees into the nearest infant vessel and rejoins life as an autist ❤️

Huh, it’s almost like they both are bad 🧐🧐🧐🧐

Brand Manager getting ready for Pride Month

I interviewed Reggie Watts like… fifteen years ago. He was a relatively quiet, unassuming and self-effacing fellow. Which I share to underscore two things: 1. This kind of clarity and public address is not something he does lightly or easily 2. The horror of our era transforms us all in many ways

This LNP government is really doing a great job of demonstrating why the federal LNP coalition got shitcanned into oblivion and I really hope something is done about them soon.

1. I love Iain Ryan’s brain because of this stuff, even when I disagree with him on lots of other stuff (eg he doesn’t seem to believe all crime fiction should be gay and trans, sadly) 2. I’ve said this for years. I can write you a competent 50,000 word novel in a day, if I want to.

Rewatching Loretta Swit’s best episodes of MASH and it’s kinda remarkable how, if you presume Trapper and Hawkeye are a polyamorous bisexual couple, it doesn’t actually contradict anything on-screen. It actually kinda makes more sense than the actual narrative stuff.

Omar’s accounts sometimes only last for seconds but he has a big family and he needs help

I want people to know what’s going down at one of Maganjin’s oldest and most important queer venues tonight. What isn’t said below - most of this happened with only a few hours of notice. The crowd is choking the venue on all sides. There is a world beyond genocidal bloodthirst and it’s beautiful.

Just realised the only true response that can sum up my disdain and indifference to Thom Yorke’s statement.

Still rewatching The Games. Somehow, an ABC mockumentary in 1998 had a better written episode about trans women in sport than pretty much every mainstream show I’ve seen tackle it since. Hell, it manages trans issues better than ER did in 1995 and that show won an Emmy for that bs.

Gotta admit, it’d be tough to reform any service that the government largely doesn’t want to exist at all. See also: healthcare for trans kids, people

Doctor decided to reassure my sister about the safety of the surgery she’s going for with ‘you’re statistically more likely to die in a car accident on the way to the hospital than the operation’ and boy does that person need to work on their bedside manner!

I’m always relearning how many of today’s problems are linked to the idea of the individual being more influential or important than the community. Like, I think a lot about how truth is a communal resource - it is something we can only determine together. But, today, we think of truth as singular.

One of the most interesting things I realised in revisiting @nkjemisin.bsky.social’s Broken Earth trilogy is how it’s essentially a three-book refutation of the idea of ‘necessary evil’. The supposedly necessary evils in the books actually prevent realisation of healing change and stability.
