Democratic Leaders Stand Real Still In Hopes No One Notices Them theonion.com/democra...

Congratulations to John Roberts, who will now surely displace Taney as the most scathingly hated Chief Justice in the history books, and to the Roberts Court, which m will go down as the one that probably did the most of any to destroy what is good about this country

SCOTUS majority not deigning to give *any* reasons for staying the injunction of the district court - in the highest-possible stakes context & where the executive branch has acted appallingly - evincing real contempt for both district courts & the rule of law

I rarely post personal things. But I need to talk about my 4-year-old niece, Hope. She has a rare disease. A drug called elamipretide has helped her survive. But the FDA recently denied its approval. Now, her health hangs in the balance. Please share her story & urge the FDA to reconsider. 🧵

It's impressive how SCOTUS managed to eviscerate the rule of law on two independent levels: 1) it rewards lawless disregard of court orders; and 2) makes Due Process optional. And, they did so without even explaining their ruling.

A party that actually wanted to mobilize young and disillusioned voters would be studying Zohran Mamdani’s campaign like the Bible

It's becoming increasingly clear is that the right wing of this Supreme Court is extreme even among federal courts. The district courts and appellate courts keep appropriately halting this shit, expressing appropriate outrage, and trying to hold the line. Then SCOTUS blows it all up.

Not the worst of it, but the court's conservatives also get to do this without bothering to explain themselves. No need for tortured logic or bad-faith arguments. They get to just blindly greenlight this with no accountability.

Each day now when I check in on Blue Sky in the afternoon, I learn some crushing news that even more completely destroys the country I thought I lived in. What a cool time to be alive.

today is the most amazing day

I'm a simple unfrozen state court clerk, but this is the part of it most galling to me personally. The district court judge and clerks put in an incredible amount of work in short order, as did the circuit judges and clerks. And they get reversed *without saying why*? It's appallingly disrespectful.

I like how every single day the people endorsing him get worse. Like a week ago it would be someone like Joe Manchin and now it’s LibsofTiktok, on Election Day it will probably be that Dung Eater guy from Elden Ring

Good example of how the pundit-brained (Tamar, not Mike) really can’t process the idea that for some people social media is neither about broadcasting yourself to the biggest possible audience nor running a representative sample focus group.

Santos reports to prison July 25th.

ICE has imprisoned the wife of a Marine veteran who was still breastfeeding a 3-month-old baby because her *mother* failed to attend a hearing in 2018 apnews.com/article/ice-...

FREEZE FRAME Well them Duke boys gotta be wondering right now whether they should be doing more to lower carbon emissions

what do you mean nature valley granola bars aren’t healthy. they’re literally in a green box

1. Our reporting displeased the world's richest man. 2. He spent $288 million to elect President Trump and other Republicans. 3. Trump's FTC has now launched a meritless investigation targeting us. 4. We're suing to protect the First Amendment. www.mediamatters.org/justice-civi...

DISASTROUS. This means they will send people to horrific situations with no due process — in direct violation of promises the Solicitor General made to the Court in previous cases. This greenlights sending people to be enslaved in Libya or tortured in any random foreign country.

according to conservatives on the court, the constitution does not protect your right to your own body but does enable the government to ship you off to a foreign gulag without any hope of return

This is a horrifying ruling that shows a disdain for basic human rights principles — made all the more unconscionable by the fact that the Republican appointees did so with no reasoning and on the shadow docket.

It would appear we are now, officially, the bad guys

To be fair I also just saw this one so it seems like these ads are pure kookery.

Saw this banner again today. This time... with an Israeli flag.

This is... not what a bubble means. What is with wapo people?

In case anyone wants to know whether this place has juice I got the answer because Jesus Jones replied and told me what song it was

Whatever happens tomorrow Zohran and crew have run one of the best campaigns I've seen. CLEAR MESSAGING of what he wants to do, pummeling Cuomo while keeping a smile, no scandals, the NY media can't find a single personal thing to play against him and THEY ARE PISSED, no infighting stories.

Disgusting. What a way to reward those who put their own lives & families’ futures on the line for our country. Does Stephen Miller hate veterans & the military as much as he hates brown people?

Again and again, the Free Press spent years complaining about illiberalism and when confronted with the first truly authoritarian government of our lifetimes went from being soft apologists to full throated endorsers

Amazing. NYT has more confirmation that Trump's decision to bomb Iran was motivated in large part by the way the Israeli strikes were "playing" on Fox News, which drove him to want credit for it

You do not, under any circumstances, gotta give it to the Nazi white nationalist.

Former President Bill Clinton, who was first elected governor at 32 years old, says that 33-year-old Zohran Mamdani doesn't have enough experience to be NYC mayor.

“I didn’t vote for this”

The media does 500 stories about "are the Democrats commiting political suicide by deposing deportations?!" when Trump is +2% on immigration, but when Trump is 20 points underwater on Iran they don't ask the same thing about Republicans. It's interesting!

leftists are consistently labeled as out of touch extremists, but there isn’t a single prominent left position this unpopular

it's happening again. this is not true, it's taken from a post by a satire site. I ask so little of y'all...

The Left is to blame because they explained what people like her on the Right had made happen.

I'm glad Menendez was forced out & now faces the legal consequences of his corruption & treason. But I don't understand a system in which this happens, while the Republican President of the United States commits the same crimes, on a level orders of magnitude worse, & faces no consequences at all.

As our nation girds for possible Iranian terrorist attacks, this is the person Trump put in charge of terrorism prevention. 22 years old. Recent work experience: landscaping/grocery clerk. Never worked a day in counter-terrorism. But he’s a BIG Trump fan. So he got the job.

who would the New York Times and Wall Street want in charge of New York's fire department: an upstart young firefighter or a serial arsonist? The answer may surprise you

The Nazi law student paper was actually worse than I thought. I think we should not stop talking about it at least until the judge explains himself.

It's likely this won the award out of a fatuous anti-woke "oh it's so brave and counter-cultural," which is a very stupid reason to give an award, but par for the course for the "anti-woke is our entire personality" crew.

Rubio on CBS: "This wasn't a regime change move." Vance on ABC: "Well, first of all, we don't want to achieve regime change." Vance on NBC: "our view has been very clear that we don't want a regime change." Trump, not waiting even 24 hours to undercut and humiliate them:

The only, and I mean only, thing I like about Trump is how regularly he undercuts his lickspittle underlings’ public statements of policy, forcing them to do rhetorical cartwheels until his whims change again.
