Attended the 1st Annual Conference with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Ireland (FASD) @fasdireland.bsky.social today! Honoured to speak at a breakout session with Louis Mulqueen, Principal of Rice College and to be joined by Jacob, who lives with FASD. Discussed the role of NEPS in schools

Incredibly short-sighted and negligent. #EdPsychs

I always bear this in mind, as to me it's a key tenet of Educational and Child Psychology. Similar to our family sayings of: "A stitch in time saves nine" and "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Creating meaningful belonging, and "mattering" is so vital. #edpsychs #reflections

Important thread on Reading Recovery

Can I introduce the Coventry Grid on Autism vs Attachment Problems? So many of our children have adverse experiences & sometimes that can be mistaken for Autism (can co-occur) but it can be so helpful to reflect more when wondering what’s going on? #EdChatIE www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/sites/defaul...

I think a massive opportunity for children with additional needs would be to scrap the Friday spelling test. I cannot emphasise the amount of anticipatory anxiety and stress this can cause our children who (in a lot of cases) don’t benefit from it. Often they have memory difficulties. #EdChatIE

I think there can be a bit of a preoccupation with labelling at times (ducks for cover) - esp to the detriment of putting in supports, relationship building &evidence based interventions in place based on the child’s needs as they present. Chdrn exist within systems&they often need change. #edchatie
