What aspect of teaching do you find takes the most time for you: lesson planning, grading, dealing with emails or something else? #edchat #langchat

Color by numbers with some reading comprehension! Fr 3 is doing an environmental themed unit. #langchat docs.google.com/presentation...

Hello, #langchat! I just listened to a podcast about curriculum planning with multiple preps & using AI to map out curriculum. I typed in a prompt for a French 1 unit. It's not perfect, but it's honestly a pretty good start!: app.schoolai.com/sd/cmapbo1ae...

Affordable, accessible child care. Equal pay for equal work. Paid family leave. Reproductive freedom. These ideas aren't radical. But making them reality would be revolutionary. Let's choose moms this #MothersDay

Did anyone else also create lots of videos or audio recordings of themselves using the TL during COVID? Still using many of these resources, believe it or not! #langchat

My take: All 3 of them are performance assessments. You can study/prepare for all of them. Success is very dependent on the student’s ability to understand how to take the test and demonstrate what the test’s rubric(s) require. #langchat

Would you describe STAMP, AAPPL and AP exams as proficiency assessments or performance assessments? Why? #langchat

I just received an email from my one of my daughter’s teachers and I LOVE her signature!!!! #langchat #edchat

Language departments: what do you provide a new hire so they know what to teach for a particular course? Curriculum outline? Pacing guide? I’m particularly interested in knowing how you support a new hire who has no same language colleagues. Thanks for sharing! #langchat

AAPPL results, observation #1: French speaking scores in my high school are significantly lower than those of other languages. Most kids scored I1 or lower! Most of the French kids scored I2 or higher on all the other parts. #langchat

Hi, #langchat! Question for middle school teachers here: How do you place transfer students or any student who does not follow the “traditional” path for studying languages in your school? (1/2)

Hi #langchat! Here’s a two part question: Attached is my school’s grading policy. Imagine I gave a French vocab quiz. 1) Which category should it go under & why?, 2) In the age of proficiency, are vocab quizzes still valuable tasks?

I’m a day late, but here’s my #langchat share & question today! Pictured is one of the whiteboards I have for student use in my classroom. I use heavy duty sheet protectors w/white cardstock & various games/options for use. How do you use whiteboards in your classes? What can I add to my own ideas?

It's Thursday! Here's another question for the #langchat community. Can you share a formative assessment for speaking that you use with students that is easy to implement to collect data & give students feedback?

The last thing that students need days before the term ends is seeing their grade plummet because a teacher took too long to grade something. #edchat #langchat

Happy Thursday! Here's a share & a ? for the #langchat community. I used AI to create a list of activities that I could use to help my French students with pronunciation. How did Chat GPT do? Which activities would you try, and would you add anything to this list? docs.google.com/document/d/1...

I really miss the sharing that happened with language teachers on the other app. Every Thurs., from now until mid-April, I'll post something to get the discussion going! Today's ?: What are some vocab practice activities you use in your classroom that DON'T involve technology? #langchat

Ok WL peeps! My 8th grade daughter is choosing her courses for hs , including her language (sadly, no ms program where we live). Students in her school are being advised to not sign up for a language until 10th grade if they are struggling in ELA and Math. Thoughts? #langchat #edchat

Please. No more speeches in the Senate about “freedom” until one Republican has the guts to stand up to Trump’s lies about Ukraine & Putin. Ukraine did not start this horrific war. Russia did. Zelensky isn't a dictator. Putin is. The US must not enter into an alliance with Putin.

AAPPL grading question:Are graders required to listen to ALL of the speaking prompts & ALL of a student's recording? If not, how much are graders required to listen to in order to rate a sample? In my estimation, grading ONE speaking test could take 20-25mn if listened to in its entirety. #langchat
