Please watch this great video from my friend!

Yuuuuuuuuup

at Scott Goldberg’s county council kickoff where he talks about meeting a Democratic voter during his unsuccessful 2022 campaign who said “teachers don’t need to live in silver spring,” adding, “no place is so exclusive that a teacher shouldn’t be able to live there”—

I tried a new thing and I hate trying new things so please justify my suffering by at least watching this video I made about housing in Montgomery county

Sidebar, families can live in homes that aren’t giant, whether they are smaller detached houses, townhomes, condos, or apartments. There were five of us (and 4 cats and a dog) in about 1,250 square feet and it was aggressively fine

Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup. Only miss you sometimes home state. Where I grew up the lot minimum is an acre An ACRE THE *MINIMUM*

“Connecticut has one of the most restrictive housing markets in the country. Our zoning laws & housing policies have long favored the status quo at the expense of working families, seniors, and young people trying to stay in the communities they love.” - State Rep Menapace

It’s true you know

YIMBYism is a really good way for left-wing candidates to demonstrate that they aren't doctrinaire while also being the correct progressive stance on the merits.

First day of early voting for NYC Primaries is here. Whatever else you do, don’t rank Cuomo!

We know what we have to do to save our city from Andrew Cuomo. We're cross endorsing 🤝 @bradlander.bsky.social

Kinda love this

one thing i love about Silver Spring in particular is that it is a more racially integrated place than anywhere else i've lived - not just the kind of diversity where everyone lives in separate neighborhoods

Still mad about this

This is true, and good, and worth celebrating, but unless we throw the kitchen sink at the cost of housing here, this county will become increasingly unaffordable to all but the most fortunate, to the detriment of everyone

No other county in the United States is as racially & ethnically diverse as Montgomery County. Montgomery County's diversity fosters an abundance of perspectives, experiences, & ideas, leading to increased creativity, innovation & more robust problem-solving. #youbelongcampaign

Among the anti-housing arguments I've seen recently aired, one of the ones I find the most morally repugnant is the idea that new housing should not be approved when it will attract families with school-age kids, thus increasing school system costs

Ground floor retail should be allowed, but not required in residential areas.

1. The US Transgender Survey has finally been released, and the results are stunning. - <1% of people are less satisfied after HRT. - The most common reason for detransition, pausing transition, or stopping transition is transphobia. The latest from S. Baum. Subscribe to support our journalism.

We are very lucky to have a leader like @natalifg.bsky.social on the council, who has done amazing work keeping a relatively modest but still very important set of zoning reforms going forward
