#mathstoday My year 8 LPA were using mathsbot today to help them collect like terms. It worked really well

It feels really weird to be in school today. Easter Revision session and I'm the only teacher in my building. 1 more session then Easter can properly begin!

#mathstoday For π day today my year 10s did a problem solving relay using maths box problems involving π ! Students that wrote down the answers in the groups were not allowed to explain, which led to really well presented working out with students teaching their classmates what each step meant.

Excited to see that #mathsconf37 tickets are on sale. I love a Sheffield mathsconf! Train tickets and hotel booked. Looking forward to seeing lots of you there. completemaths.com/community/ma...

#Mathstoday Did some interweaving with surds in sequences from @nathanday.bsky.social today as part of an extension. And no my class does not hate me somehow.

#mathstoday Half our year 7s have been on a school holiday which meant I have gotten to do my favourite maths project with those that were left over 3 lessons. The Farm activity, looking at area and perimeter. I did it when I was a year 7 student and I will do it again every chance I get.

#mathstoday Today we had a look at equivalent fractions. Visually seeing how certain fractions mean the same thing.

#mathstoday Used this lovely resource by @draustinmaths.com for year 9 today. Match up: Area of Parallelograms and Trapeziums. This question, number 7 in particular was very nice. Stumped quite a few of them.

#mathstoday It was a mufti day today so I got to wear my maths hoodie. It was really nice how the kids kept wanting to know what it said.

Look who made it over to @bsky.app 🤩

Has anyone actually used Ai to help lesson plan or create resources for maths? Our school is doing a CPD session on it and they asked us on a form what we would like to get out of the sessions and I have nothing positive to say. (Apart from that it can take old textbooks and digitise them)

#mathstoday I used the pen function on PowerPoint for the first time today when teaching. Never used PowerPoint interactive settings before and I hated it. Running back to my activinspire and never returning. It also crashed mid-using so I had no luck there.

#Mathstoday Today's lesson with my LPA Year 11 on proportion went badly. We used the simplest textbook exercise for it but they couldn't grasp the questions. If anyone knows of a very basic scaffolded worksheet for proportion I would love a suggestion. Redoing the lesson next week.

#MathsToday Back to school (had last week off) My year 11s looked at ratio in the form 1:n today. Honestly so proud of how confident they feel with the whole topic. Proportion next!

#WeeklyWins My bookshelf from my old classroom finally got moved to my new one!!! No more books in piles on the floor.

#MathsToday Got so distracted marking my year 10 exams that I completely forgot I had signed up for an AQA CPD event. Sorry Dave! I even forgot to drink my hot chocolate, just in the zone marking with a song playing on loop for nearly 3 hours.

In #MathsToday my Year 10s started Surds. First time teaching the topic and I think it went alright. Got an observation on it on Wednesday feeling alright about it.

Absolutely brilliant day at #MathsConf36 Every single session I was at nailed it. Exhausted now, time for an early night.

#mathstoday Honestly had so much fun going from a class doing fractional indices to a class that was practicing their 3 and 4 times tables today. I'm really liking the range I teach this year.

What are some good topics (apart from the obvious - area) that I could get my student to do that's ahead of the rest of the class in their multiplication. I don't want them getting bored but also they are well ahead of some of the others.

#MathsToday My year 10s worked on expanding triple brackets which is one of my favourite things for relaxing maths. A couple of them had a go at a challenging question to push themselves at the end! Achievement points for all that tried.

#MathsToday I think I'm finally getting the hang of the AQA ELC for maths. Found the external assessments and I feel more confident in what I'm doing. Pretty empty day, test feedback, tests or my ELC group doing ratio.
