This is petunia Black Pearl.

And yet another angle…

Today’s flowers from another angle.

The lemon tree has flowered - and unsurprisingly the flowers look at lot like the yuzu tree flowers.

Tête de Moine cheese is served in fan-shaped, flower-like ribbons. Researchers have found that the frilly forms arise from spatial variations in the properties of the cheese wheel from which the flowers are removed. The insight could help improve the processing of soft materials.

This is Rose Chocolatier - we are looking after it for the Yamada-san’s to the left. Our neighbor to the right is Yamada-san and the neighbor opposite is Yamada-san - they are all unrelated. I just feel sorry for the postman.

The lettuces are growing at a rate beyond our capacity to eat them.

Zucchini are coming along - I know there are a few Italian recipes for cooking with these but never had the chance to use them before.

The “Snap Endō” are doing well as well - the Asian equivalent if mange-tout but I can’t remember the English name!

Sahara 89 - quite a contrast between the growing and fully open bloom.

Take a look at my lovely soft pair of plums. It’s important not to handle them roughly while they’re still growing.

Hopefully we will get some blackberries this year.

A half open and fully open Clematis Tessen.

Quite cloudy today - just cleared up for a picture #MountFuji #富士山

Nice selection of roses from the garden today - smells good too. #MountFuji #Gardening #Roses

Our amaryllis looks like some alien triffid invader. #FujiGarden #amaryllis #富士山

Doggo getting in on the act. #Roses #MountFuji #AnnoyingDogs

Rambling Rector with Fuji in the background. The name comes from the Victorian era and was seen as risqué in its time, implying that the rector had an eye for young girls, which makes sense given a he would have been CofE. #Roses #MountFuji

Constance Spry - the first commercially successful David Austen rose. #富士山 #MountFuji #Roses

Queen of Sweden #Roses #Gardening #MountFuji #富士山

Chateau de Something or Other - Chevelnie? I’ll have to look it up. #Roses #MountFuji #Gardening

Quite a yield from the Marie Henriette- I’ll have to find out how to make rosewater. #MountFuji #Roses #Gardening #富士山

Young rose petals are almost entirely round but as they grow, small and distinct points appear along their outer edges. Researchers have now uncovered the mechanical mechanisms responsible, offering new insights for designing structures can change shape on demand.

Strawberries are beginning to produce as well #MountFuji #Strawberry #Gardening #富士山

This hosta is growing extraordinarily well as well #MountFuji #Hosta #富士山

Rice planting just beginning. #MountFuji #富士山

Very pale, almost invisible Mount Fuji today, with only traces of snow on the top. #MountFuji #富士山

This is the elderflower - which seems totally out of control, maybe due to the excellent volcanic soil?! #MountFuji #Gardening #富士山

This is Veilchnblau, growing up the arch near the elderflower. #Roses #MountFuji #富士山

This is Rainy Blue - on the same bed as the elderflower. #Roses #Gardening #MountFuji

Sahara 98 going strong - Mount Fuji sneaking into the background. #MountFuji #Gardening #Roses #富士山

Doggo is skulking around. #MountFuji #gardening #KusoInu

The seeds of the Christmas Roses can be caught in these little tea bags and then used for propagation. #mountfuji #ChristmasRose. #gardening

Bashō draws a poignant connection between the unnoticed ripening of the mulberry fruit and the unnoticed growth of a child. This is now my favorite haiku I think!

We found a small mulberry tree growing wild walking the dog. There is a famous haiku by Bashō: 桑の実に 油断なりけり 子のそだち Kuwa no mi ni yudan narikeri ko no sodachi Mulberries ripen how careless I’ve been with my growing child

The mulching around the base of this persimmon tree is momigara ,or 籾殻 in kanji, which are the left over husks from processing the rice. #gardening #mountfuji #富士山

Quite a misty Mount Fuji today. #mountfuji #富士山

We can’t remember whether this hosta is “Blue Mammoth” or “Blue Mouse” - but it’s certainly gigantic - by the front door #fujigarden #hosta #gardening #富士山

Pierre du Ronsard - this time in the front garden opposite the road. #fujigarden #gardening #roses #富士山

This is Altissimo, pictures next to the yellow Japanese maple (which is very rare apparently) #gardening #mountfuji #富士山 #roses
