🌎🌡️📈 We just experience the first two years 'with a global temperature anomaly above 1.6°C in one or more data sets!'

Grant Shapps begins by saying defence is an area that should transcend politics, then goes on to make the most spurious partisan points you will hear today, including... that Labour should have done all this twelve months ago when, erm, <checks notes> Grant Shapps was still Defence Secretary. ~AA

I watched Threads for the first time yesterday. Barry Hines's jaunty sequel to Kes about a pair of South Yorkshire bird enthusiasts looking for love during a nuclear holocaust while a gang of comically inept local government officials struggle to keep a lid on things. A flighty romp, 8/10.

🚨NEW: "Don’t be polite. These people are trash. They deserve our contempt." At a packed-out event on Saturday, Benjamin Moser, Pankaj Mishra and William Dalrymple eviscerated Western support of the Israeli state, calling it "the moral litmus test of our time."

What Laura describes here mirrors my own experience with Unbound / Boundless over the last year or so.

I know everyone has different circumstances but if you see a gig you think you'll go to and you have the means to do so: book a ticket. I see so many comedians having to cancel gigs because people keep waiting til the last minute to book.

The Right Wing Hate Speech Religious Fundamentalists who fund transphobic activism in the UK are now pivoting to anti-abortion activism. As we always said they would - because their agenda of policing patriarchal norms is the same. open.substack.com/pub/democrac...

This is a wonderfully ‘Ripping Yarns’ thread of British exceptionalism👇👇👇

Statement from the Office of the Bretwalda. Your Bretwalda will be conducting a cabinet reshuffle in the near future. Stay tuned for updates.

👏👏👏😂😂😂😂 Skegness (where Richard has to pretend not to despise the people he represents in order to silence a relentless internal monologue telling him he’s a Gerry Anderson mediocrity)

LBC interview starting in 20 mins

I hope everyone who can has watched Louis Theroux’s The Settlers on BBC iPlayer.

Have the best weekend you can - find your people if you haven’t already- they are out there! Keep the joy when you find it, keep being awesome, and thank you for following Utah Saints! ❤️❤️❤️ Tonight! The legendary @GoldenLionTod CANNOT WAIT!

The delay from finding out Unbound were going under to finding out they weren’t paying the money they owed, I was quiet about it cos I assumed they were trying to raise that money. They said they were finding new backers, to get new Venture Capital. They’ve used it to start a new business.

This captures the Poor Little Rich People terribly well, doncha think?

I found it amusing in a smash the telly screen with a breeze block kind of way to hear Tice extolling the virtues of life in Dubai where they do things in a way that he’d hate if we did them in the UK.

I found that Telegraph article about the family having to cut back on their five holidays a year and you'll never guess who the protagonists are... open.substack.com/pub/mrhenrym...

England could face water shortages within a decade. Since 1989 population, homes increased - 25 reservoirs sold off, no new ones, no desalination plants, 1 trillion liters of water a year lost to leaks. Companies borrowed to pay dividends. No forward planning. Disaster made by privatisation.

"Rupert, the Sky remote isn't working again" "Have you tried deporting anyone?"

Your 'moment of doom' for May 29, 2025 ~ Collapse! "Climate change is causing the glaciers - frozen rivers of ice - to melt faster and faster, and the permafrost, often described as the glue that holds the high mountains together, is also thawing." bbc.com/news/article...

Lawbreaking is "out of control", says well-known respecter of laws and rules, Robert Jenrick

Subsequent to Robert Jenrick cosplaying Alan Partridge and attempting to citizen's arrest fare-dodgers earlier, it turns out he was breaking TFL rules himself. He can add that to his ticket for doing 68mph in a 40mph, and expediting Richard Desmond's planning decisions. @henryriley1.bsky.social

Trickle up economics

He's Mark Corrigan if he got radicalised

I like how Tommy Robinson has come out of prison looking like he's been trying to rob Macaulay Culkin

A lot went wrong for Billy Slater today, but here is what he got wrong in the Maroons' opening loss to the Blues, and how he can fix it... #rugby #rugbyleague

That last sentence. Probably the best punchline Andrew Lawrence has ever had a hand in.

HMRC admits not collecting £40bn tax last yr. Others say over £100bn. Big accounting/law firms, banks mastermind tax dodges. Rarely prosecuted. No big accounting firm prosecuted; get govt contracts. Fewer than FIVE criminal cases brought in 2023-2024, 16 in 2018-2019. Govts chase little people.

An 89-strong coalition of environment groups has warned that reduced biodiversity rules would mean the vast majority of housing developments would no longer need to compensate for nature loss news.sky.com/story/govern...

Bank robbers say asking banks for permission would kill the heist industry.

Absolutely surreal to have lived through the Napster days and watched as the titans of industry moved hell and high water to lock down any possible chance that someone's song might get swapped online without giving the studios a cut and now those same people are just like "well we gotta steal music"
