“Taney is still worse, because he helped usher in the Civil War.” Jury’s still out on what Roberts is ushering in, folks, but it isn’t going to be good

Sharing because it made me laugh, and also because Roy Scheider was a fucking dish

The claims that McIver, Padilla, and Lander were committing assault should make you question every other time LEOs claim assault or resisting arrest, if you weren’t already.

We are a failed state if there isn’t some truth and reconciliation process on the other end of this that results in a lot of these people going to prison for a long time.

I assume the service members out there today realize that the tradeoff for the cost of the parade was probably a million things that could make their professional lives better and safer. What a shitty way to treat the people under your command

There’s not much reason to hope right now, but liner notes make me feel like everything’s going to be ok eventually

Padilla: If this is how DHS responds to a senator with a question you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California.

We’ve entered the “watching Wheel of Fortune after supper” era of married life

“An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You should never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience.”

That’s how you shoot your shot

This is how he thinks. Turning down an illegal gift is what a "stupid person" would do. Dying in military service is for "suckers and losers." And cheating on taxes makes him "smart."

Shout out to the disabled community for always showing up, always being on the right side of history and justice, always willing to put their bodies on the line, all for the cause of making sure *everyone* has the basic dignity of health care.

Police can question you and — even if you say nothing — they're allowed to testify about your "demeanor" and "body language" during questioning. Most judges will allow this as a form of expert testimony. That's why STFU is not enough. You need to explicitly say "I invoke my 5th amendment rights"

Masked thugs kidnapping people off of the street are not heroes.

My view of ICE goons hiding their identity is that these guys are very very aware that what they are doing is evil.

From Jeffrey Toobin's 2008 book THE NINE, this remains the greatest Justice Souter anecdote I can possibly share. RIP.

Cassocks are red Conclaves are dope Wake up babe we got a

I am 100% serious when I say that Harvard's response to this rambling bullshit should simply be this classic:

He stood there on Jan 20 and falsely mouthed the words to protect and defend our Constitution. Asked now on Meet the Press if he thinks he needs to uphold the Constitution, he says, “I don’t know.” Translation: No. Woe to America and the utter failure of putting this man back in our Oval Office.

OMG I FIGURED IT OUT UNLIKABLE? SOCIOPATHIC? PETULANT? WHINY? STEPHEN MILLER IS GROWN-UP CAILLOU

Imagine the biggest problem in your life being about which bathroom a total stranger uses. Imagine pretending random people you'll never meet are somehow victimizing you with their existence. Imagine being that hard up for troubles that you have to invent them just so you can play the victim.

hits a little different this morning

the weirdos who insisted children were being abused in the basement of a pizza parlor with no basement sure are quiet in the face of actual trafficking

“It doesn’t matter who you are, you’re going to be prosecuted," said Attorney General Pam Bondi. Unless, of course, you are a violent insurrectionist who assaults police officers, smears shit in the US capitol, and tries to overthrow an election on behalf of Donald Trump.

The FBI is arresting judges. We just blew through Constitutional Crisis and into fascism.

My eldest daughter Claudia once asked me why there isn’t a provision that says that convicted felons can’t be president and this was *exactly* my answer

In my adult lifetime the Republicans went from “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” to “Vladimir, STOP!”

Gun registry? No. Autism registry? Yes? Fuck ALL the way off.

Pope Francis’s "Urbi et Orbi" Easter speech: “How much contempt is stirred up at times towards the vulnerable, the marginalized and migrants...I appeal to all those in positions of political responsibility in our world not to yield to the logic of fear which only leads to isolation from others.”

Stop calling it deporting, so MAYBE more Americans will get it. "Deporting" is sending someone back, after due process, to the country they came from, where they arrive a free person. This is human trafficking to a foreign torture prison for the rest of their lives. GET THE LANGUAGE RIGHT.

ah man how could I have known I was voting for the concentration camp president when all he did was campaign on concentration camps

And many are outright geniuses, and engage in more productive activity in an hour than RFK Jr. will in his entire life.

I’ve reached the point in allergy season where I sound like Kathleen Turner. That’s my favorite.

First time we’ve seen a show at The Castle Theater in Bloomington. Great acoustics and more seating than I expected.
