After being a double RI school for several years, I am very pleased to say that our Ofsted report was published today and we are Good in all areas! What a relief. Happy Friday!

An enormous congratulations to Belper School and @matildewarden.bsky.social on a truly superb Ofsted report. I know from family and friends who have children there the impact you have had. Brilliant to see this reflected in print! I hope you’re celebrating 🥂

Our Head of Technology has made wooden name badges for all our Year 6’s who are coming up for induction day in a couple of weeks. They double up as keyrings for their locker keys too. So cute! I was very chuffed to have been given one this morning too!

Can’t help but think my daughter’s going to be so disappointed by her primary school Technology lessons next year thanks to my ex-D&T teacher dad 😅

For his 40th I’ve flown my husband to Belfast to see his Derbyshire tattooist who inconveniently relocated. Love the folk stories behind his rather lovely inkings.

Spotted on Facebook: exam invigilator bingo. A seriously underrated and hard to recruit to role. Our lead invigilators are retired SLT and married. They are awesome. A quote from one this week: ‘You expect them to behave and they will.’ And of course the reverse is true.

TEACHERS AND SCHOOL STAFF: Please could you fill in this form for my daughter's Food Tech GCSE work? I will pay you in cookies! Please RT for reach! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

My incredible sister has written this blog about the challenges for women in her profession of Maritime Archaeology. I appreciate this is a niche field but it will resonate for so many in the myriad of ways women still face challenges in their professional lives. msdsmarine.com/diving-back-...

📚✨ Wishing all the incredible teachers, support staff, and everyone working in education a very happy half term! You’ve earned every moment of rest and relaxation. Thank you for your dedication, passion, and the difference you make every single day. Enjoy the break — you deserve it! 🌟🍎 #HalfTerm

Today I have: - been in a TikTok with Y11 leavers - talked to a colleague not currently in school - shared joy at a fair exam paper - worked out who threw the glue stick - summarised and shared a paper on SEND And a 100 other fun and/or cognitively and/or emotionally demanding tasks 😴 #EduSky

I’m getting a bit fed up of the spam on here and am feeling increasingly disconnected from other school leaders. Where are the discussions / debates? #EduSky

Meaningful May - Day 21: Look up at the sky. Remember we are all part of something bigger actionforhappiness.org/meaningful-may #MeaningfulMay

I’m always totally inspired by the quality of the revision notes our students are clutching on the morning of an exam. Always feels like a sign of something going very right. ❤️

A surge in unregistered AP, better 'SEND system health' indicators and the 'overcrowded school' GCSE penalty Here are the key findings from Labour's 17,000-word response to the SEND inquiry buff.ly/m0qxpOf

In one of those work grooves where things feel fairly relentlessly full on. Felt even more important to get to smash out a few miles with the family today and then get to celebrate my dad’s 70th with him ❤️

6 years ago today I went for a job that @benniekara.bsky.social got. I lost out on the job but gained a brilliant brilliant mate. I also wrote this blog: mrscspalding.blogspot.com/2019/05/what... #EduSky

Delighted that @nexuseduk.bsky.social l asked me to blog about how schools can get more female students interested in tech - the perceptions, barriers and ways to encourage with good examples from schools and resource links. ❤️

The number of senior leaders in schools who aspire to headship is at a record low, an @naht.org.uk survey has suggested

And now we celebrate! 🥳🥳🥳

21 miles and 600m elevation of Edale skyline conquered today with my birthday twin @aviewaskew.bsky.social. Last year, Ibiza. This year, Sheffield. With views like this it’s a reasonable trade.

She only went and bloody did it! @jenowenteacher.bsky.social bagged her first teaching job today and honestly I couldn’t be prouder. She’s been my best mate for 20 years and having her fall in love with the job I love had been an unexpected delight this year. DEAD PROUD. #EduSky

A few more days to apply for this. A lovely school in Derbyshire. Perfect for English teachers looking for a move or an ECT.

Photos of the day ☀️ 🌊

Wednesday brings a cracking book, a brandy sour, and a view of the sea. Loving your work, holidays 😎😎

ASCL general secretary @pepediiasio.bsky.social is about to speak at #NEU2025 - follow below for key points

"don't overload your lessons with text, 3 or 4 bulletpoints max, cognitive overload..." cpd for staff: wall of text if you don't believe it yourself... ...sometimes I literally shut my eyes or look away so I can try to concentrate on what is being said

Happy Easter break to all in education 🥳 Here (as ever) to (controversially) show that you can be a teacher/school leader, be happy and have a life! 🤪

Also chuffed to say that, now it’s been announced at school, I can say I’ll be Senior Deputy Head in Sept. It’s a moment of change for the school with a new Head and 2nd Deputy. My new role marks my ongoing commitment to a wonderful place I’m proud to help lead. #EduSky

Well this has restored my faith in Bluesky! For those not crossing over from Twitter, I am Deputy Head in an 11-18 school with 1800 on roll. Over 50 languages spoken and outcomes we are proud of. I’m also and English teacher and passionately believe in system leadership for the good of every child.
