Fuck - and I can’t stress this enough - right off.

Legislators for hire. Tory peer proposed delay on heated tobacco ban after Philip Morris visit. Only if poverty, squalor, injustice was attacked with the same vigour. Can't get good society without eradicating political corruption.

Ordinary people "feel like mugs" for paying when others feel they can get away without doing so, says Robert Jenrick, who was found to have falsely claimed £122 in travel expenses, and used his own office to help a Conservative donor avoid paying £45m in tax www.adambienkov.co.uk/p/robert-jen...

A small offering for #StandingStoneSunday. This one watches over the land between the Neolithic Barnhouse settlement and Harray Loch, Orkney 🧪🏺

This is pure gold 😂

Who knew that biscuit art is a thing? Well, you do now, and this thread is amazing:

this is stupid and dangerous when bird flu is so widespread in US birds and dairy herds.

When we publish in ANY academic journal we state HOW the research was funded and ANY conflict of interests. Kennedy is needlessly mud- slinging with wild accusations of corruption in published research 🧵

It is weird that of all the possible slogans, Irish bigots chose "Ireland is full" when, very notably, Ireland is basically the only country in the world with fewer people than it had 200 years ago

Nigel Farage wants attention for *saying* he’d scrap the 2-child benefit cap. But in the vote against it, did he show up? No. Zero Reform MPs voted against the cap in July. Green MPs put it in our costed manifesto, signed the motion, and voted to scrap it. Actions not words.

Giant egos, hidden fossils and Machiavellian scheming in the academy - in this tale about what might (or might not) be the oldest hominin. A thrilling read! www.theguardian.com/science/2025...

Scottish politicians appeal to bloke who invented the Facebook so he could rate the sexual attractiveness of women (who wouldn’t touch him and his misogynist mates with a barge pole) not to let Reform supporters be racist on it Good luck with that www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Nick Clegg's new book is £25, but I'm sure he's okay with us stealing it.

Oh boy.

Extra cancer scans for women with dense breasts could save 700 lives a year – UK study

“Wearing perfume or using a fragranced body lotion could be bad for health, a study suggests.” <reads on> “A study of four volunteers” “This study has determined…” No. That’s not a study. That’s “I got some mates into the lab and had them walk past the mass spectrometer for a laugh”

This reminds me of my favourite Chatham House rule story 🧵 Way back in the pre-crash boom period, Gordon Brown as Chancellor hosted one of his big global investment conferences at the QEII in London. Muggins here, a junior Treasury official, had a cheap seat as one of the organisers…1/

I suspect it would be even higher (ie, way more than half) if we also promised to re-open the youth clubs & other youth facilities that got shut by David Cameron, just at the point the smartphone was invented.

I am going to see whether the True Vision platform want to do anything about this incessant racist stalker. I hope The Economist do not object to unlawful racist abuse being reported - but I have had 20 messages from this guy in a fortnight. (Twitter could not find any violation of their rules)

I still think represents the most shocking void in the UK’s COVID response - when the largest biomedical facility offered to undertake testing (many universities did the same) the government didn’t even answer. The cost would have been minimal. But no profit for private companies… is that it?

Nick Clegg has a bloody cheek piping up at all. It was the austerity he enabled that is most responsible for Brexit & the continued unravelling of our social fabric. Then he swanned off to piss around at meta. Twat.
