My 7th grade Comp Sci Ss are getting ready to present their final @raspberrypi.com Robotics Design projects this week. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the cool features this year’s class added to the traditional “robotic buggy” build… #CSforAll #CSed #MakerEd

My annual 7th grade robotics exhibition is just a couple weeks away, and Ss are hustling to put the final pieces together on their bots. This yr’s classes are trying out some REALLY neat ideas! So proud of their creativity & perseverance! #CSed #MakerEd #EDUsky @raspberrypiorg.bsky.social

Testing out my new Toybox 3D printer today. So far, so easy to use!

My Ss have some fun ideas for their end of yr @raspberrypi.com robotics projects & I’m having to learn some new skills alongside them to make it happen. This week— speech recognition. Took a few days of failures but finally got something working! 🎉 👏🏻 #MakerEd #CSed

A3: I’m definitely concerned about creator’s rights when it comes to the ways AI is training using artists’ work… I have Ss who are really worried about the ethics of AI & creating work based on other people’s work #EduSkyAI

A1: just started trying out AI for learning new coding skills w/my Ss. Hoping it helps us do more in a short amount of class time, & let us focus more on electronics and project design & build #EduSkyAI

Ss using homemade soil sensors + @raspberrypi.com + @pimoroni.com Explorer Hat this week to test for moisture in soil. Today we’ll graph our data w/pygal. Learning lots about electricity & data collection! #CSed #MakerEd Huge to thx to Chris Regini for sharing his lesson all those yrs ago 😁

First post in while--> "Math in the Making: Coding Sewable Buttons" mshaughs.blogspot.com/2025/04/math... Trying to get blogging again, and I've been especially interested in helping students learn & apply math in context. This unit was a really fun way of doing that.

The art T and I decided to collaborate on a garden art project w/our 4th grade classes. My class’s giant pinwheels went in today and I am loving the outcome. They look especially striking when spinning! #MakerEd

A1: My middle school comp sci Ss keep digital portfolios in Seesaw, where they share their work & reflect on their learning. Below is one of my favorite reflections so far this year… #EduInFocus @edutopia.org

5th grade has been creating “virtual pets/plants” in Scratch and they are looking SOOO cute! Ss practicing everything from animation & design skills to variables, events & broadcasts. WOW these kids are creative! Lesson by projects.raspberrypi.org #CSed #MakerEd

When one of your middle school CS Ss turns their school Walk-a-Thon shirt into a Raspberry Pi pun 🙃 @raspberrypiorg.bsky.social

Unboxing my @pimoroni.com order today and how adorable is this Pibow packaging?? Was surprised to find out that they’re actually little striped paper bags wrapped around each case 😍

A3: I’ve been trying to create more concrete supports to help Ss w/resiliency. Troubleshooting checklists, peer teachers, setup 1-pagers, goal setting/learning targets… tips to help reminds Ss what to do when stuck #TKAP

A2: Having coping strategies & perspective can help. Sometimes I have to remind myself that a particular problem is not the end of the world. #TLAP

A1: I teach #CSed which means daily tech troubles… I try to model resilience by thinking aloud troubleshooting stategies & pivots, as needed #TLAP

Hi #TLAP— I’m Amanda, TK-8 educator in CA. A highlight today was hearing a 7th grade student’s design idea for his robotics final build. A very empathetic idea for helping others & encouraging positive culture 👏🏻

I’d like to see more convos re: ethics & environmental impacts of AI, what we (users) can do to promote more ethical sourcing of data/content for AI, more environmentally friendly development, etc #EduSkyAI ... podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t... www.unep.org/news-and-sto...

So proud of my 8th graders who presented their progress on our “electronic word art for belonging” mini-projects yesterday. So many compliments from our audience of parents & staff. Wish I could share all the smiles 😊 (built with @raspberrypi.com Picos) #CSed #MakerEd

My favorite unit of the year has begun 👏🏻 & this year’s 7th graders are making loads of progress in just a few days! So far Ss learned how to connect motors, methods for forward & backward, and how to connect to a chassis. Can’t wait to see what this group comes up with! #CSed #csk8 #MakerEd

After introducing radial symmetry on paper in 5th grade, we experimented with creating radial art in Scratch. So fun to see Ss unique creations! #CSed #csk8 #EDUsky

LOVE our newest 8th grade CS projects!! Theme was design for belonging by creating multilingual word art using @raspberrypi.com Pico, Tinkercad for laser cutting & PiperMake code. Box templates designed by a parent volunteer are really helping step up our project builds this yr! #CSed #MakerEd

Fun week 1 of @raspberrypi.com in 6th grade! Ss had so much fun learning about hardware while programming the Sense Hat w/@scratch #CSforAll #CSed #CSk8

Officially launched our robotics unit in 7th today. Day 1 lesson w/Raspberry Pi Explorer Hats was fantastic!! Ss figured out so much in one short session. Can’t wait to see what they create this yr! #csed #MakerEd #EDUsky

6th grade is having fun learning to code custom Lego bricks in Tinkercad Codeblocks + all the math that goes along with it! Great practice with loops and measurement. #EDUsky #csk8 #MakerEd #CSed

One year later… finally finished this sample project & sooo happy with the outcome!! Using Raspberry Pi & focused on theme of designing for a more inclusive school community. Ready launch the project with 8th grade! @raspberrypiorg.bsky.social #CSed #MakerEd

Loving #MLforKids in 6th grade this week, as Ss learn more about how AI & machine learning work. Ss experimented w/training the computer to recognize faces in Scratch while creating either their own “filters” or “face locks”. @dalelane.co.uk #CSed #CSk8 #EDUsky

Getting 7th grade CompSci Ss reacquainted with Python this month via GUIzero + Raspberry Pi. Lots of successes on day 1 with the Raspberry Pi GUIzero project page! @raspberrypiorg.bsky.social #EDUsky #CSed #MakerEd

From basketball hoops to the Space Needle, a bow & arrow and more… 6th & 7th gr enjoyed some some rapid Lego build challenges on our 1st day back at school this week #CSed #MakerEd #EduSky

Today was day 2 w/our Raspberry Pi Picos + LED circuits in grade 8 and Ss were tasked w/creating a “music & lights” show. So fun!! @raspberrypiorg.bsky.social #CSed #EDUsky #MakerEd

8th grade just kicked off their first days of LED circuits w/Raspberry Pi Pico — all these years later I still get excited w/the Ss when they get those lights to blink! #MakerEd #CSed #EDUsky @raspberrypiorg.bsky.social

Wrapping our “intro to color theory” unit in 6th this week. Ss learned about color relationships, especially complementary colors, high contrast & accessible design. Plus we learned brush skills & watercolor techniques. Their complementary “pop art” is beautiful! #EduSky

In today’s 7th grade coding lesson, we practiced using loops in @tinkercad Codeblocks while creating “kindness charms”. Only our 1st iteration & they’re looking so great already! Next steps— 3d print & organize anonymous gifting to our 7th grade peers. #EduSky

Well, I am beyond impressed w/my gr6 Ss. We just wrapped our “code a mask” unit & their projects are SO creative! Plus Ss practiced so much math— coordinates, measurement, add/subtract along number line… Thx to @raspberrypi.bsky.social for the project! #EduSky

A1: my “oldie but goodie” edtech tools are Google Forms & Seesaw. Especially loving the new AI-gen text to speech in Seesaw. Helping me make tasks more accessible to various level readers & English learners. #EduSkyChat

Wow! Checking in on the chat after dinner time & bed time w/the little one and looks like lots to catch up on! #EduSkyChat
