I have decided that I do want to write a book. However I have never written a nonfiction history book with the intent to publish or even attempted to research for something like this. I am feeling mightily unequal to the task.

This week's #TwentiesTuesday garment is Madeleine Vionnet's 1921 Greek-inspired "Petits chevaux" evening dress. Made from terrecotta red silk crêpe, the dress is embroidered in dark blue metallic thread and beads to create the silhouettes of horses. MAD Paris collection. #FashionHistory

Today’s #ootd us this 1930s gown by Margaret Marks. The silky biased cut satin dress with a slim silhouette is classic 1930s. Also note the stylized leaf appliqués in a different fabric that increases its textural appeal. Plus that bow! Oh the bow! #fashionhistory

It’s my Improbability of Puffins. I love this term of venery for puffins (who are indeed improbable looking sea birds). It’s part of my series of prints of groups of animals and the weird and wonderful collective nouns to describe them. #linocut #printmaking #puffins

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 I’m a non-binary, Autistic classically trained chef, and I wrote a food aversion acceptance cookbook and guide! Built on a foundation of unconditional acceptance, to help folx learn to accommodate individual sensory needs. It’s for all ages and all levels of cooking ability.

I ended up showing my under-30 coworker what the microfiche machine was in the corner and how to use it. She thought it was fascinating.

Hey, hey! My eyes are up here! 👀

A beautiful rendition of womenswear echoing the style of their fashionable male counterparts here in #1790s style. The tailoring of silk stripes with embroidered waistcoat beneath but following the contours of the cinched waist #museetissuslyon #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

(Pops head up, leaves clinging to hair) "Movies" was originally a slang term that could be derogatory and applied to both motion pictures and the people who made them.

Our local SPCA just put out a call for help. This is Hippo. He turns out to have a broken femur and needs his leg amputated and to be neutered. Vet is saying $800. It's now $700.. if you can help, be sure to mention hippo in the comments. checkout.shelterluv.com/donate/NENC

Does anything sound more luscious than ‘raspberry velvet’ the fabric from which this #1920s evening dress was fashioned? Coupled with the gold embroidered insert and gilt oblong buckle it is a bright and richly textured gown, Maryland Center for History and Culture #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

It is a midnight sky and a veil of stars in one late #1930s gown, the sheer sparkling over layer shifting and shining with an integral capelet kissing the shoulders @deyoungmuseum.bsky.social #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security.    Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.   Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people. —Harry Truman, 1952

Going to the Neurologist today to discuss test results. All my humanities educated mind could understand was it’s not MS or Lyme or a brain tumor but there is something showing up in the results. So it’s not those dumpster fires but my body is SOME SORT of dumpster fire. 🤷‍♀️

In another episode of ‘I love that matching coat’ I bring you this mid #1950s Dior ensemble which includes, in addition, a matching shoulder stole, all in this rich burgundy silk #museumatfit #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

It is not easy to make stripes look so effortless. Here they run vertically, pieced together perfectly but then the fabric is arranged horizontally in the round of the sleeve. 1780s robe a la francaise #metmuseum #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

The dog has had nasty tummy issues this week and is getting her medicine in chicken baby food plus Rice. She thinks it’s delicious and I’m hyping it up for her as “Yadi’s Special Treat!”

Lumbar Puncture today to rule out another cause of my headaches. Not really looking forward to it so reading Persuasion while I wait instead. 🤷‍♀️

Gave my first program at the library tonight on the lead up to the Revolutionary War. Did tolerably well considering the string of bad luck I’d had leading up to it today.
