As Max Burns writes in today's MSNBC post, trying to compromise with the Trump right, as Gavin Newsom has been working at, is a fool's errand. Their foundation is anti-rationalism, so as they see their adversaries inch to the right, they will move the goalposts back. To them, truth = power.
