I was visiting my wife today, like I have everyday for 6+ weeks, following a #stroke. A #doctor casually mentioned that she had #heart_failure. I asked for more information, which he gave. It sounds serious but he made it sound not so serious. What #questions should I, as a relative, be asking?

#MusicChallenge Day 49 #LifeInANorthernTown by #DreamAcademy (1985) This track was a constant on the #turntable for a while. An amazing sound, with some wonderful #British images (and some #American ones too). It has stood the test of time and remains a firm favourite. youtu.be/5UXnulANF8g

#MusicChallenge Day 48 #LittleIsland by #EltonJohn (2003) I think this is one of the best recordings of EJ ever, from the faultless #Randy_Newman's_Faust. The track highlight's EJ's voice talent perfectly. I love the whole album. Guest stars galore. #DonHenley #JamesTaylor youtu.be/y4ZONTvw8dc

#MusicChallenge Day 47 #ThePlague by #Demon (1983) I loved this track from the first time I heard it on the radio, #TommyVance in the #UK. The band have never broken it big, but are continually on the European rock festival circuit. youtu.be/qEYm1anvavQ

#MusicChallenge Day 46 #Stay by #ShakespearsSister (1992) There is something other worldly about this track. Something which appeals and hooks you. youtu.be/YCYaALgW80c

#MusicChallenge Day 45 #IAmAPatriot by #JacksonBrowne (1989) A track written by #LittleSteven but covered by JB. Such a great track as it speaks to you no matter where you live. Even if you have emigrated to another, for whatever reason, you still love the country you come from youtu.be/gq7h7NjCjdg

#MusicChallenge Day 44 #SameOldScene by #RoxyMusic (1980) I'm not a fan of Roxy Music, specifically #Brian_Ferry. There's something about him that creeps me out. However, this track is an exception. First heard it at the end of a movie, #TimesSquare Wikipedia tells me. 🤣 youtu.be/u6mE3U8ALwU

Between my life being in hospital following a stroke and trying to visit her everyday for 3 hours, plus our home bathroom having been ripped out, so no toilet of bath/shower for 3 to 4 weeks has taken its toll. I keep crashing out instead of tidying up now that (most of) the work is done.

#MusicChallenge Day 43 #MyLife by #SaigonKick (1990) I love the harmonies of this band and then there is this track. The sound of the voices changes from being distant to being in the room (best way I can explain it). Plus, who doesn't like a middle-eight with #kazoos. youtu.be/sjFOYdzoD7A

#MusicChallenge Day 43 #DanceWithMe by #Orleans (1975) I loved this track when it came out. I recorded it from the radio as I couldn't afford it at the time. Still love it. First time I have seen them in video. Loving the four-way harmonies. youtu.be/qWg4tCZ03kU

I think the tolĺ of visiting my wife every day is becoming apparent. All I want to do when I get back home is sleep. #Stroke #carer #exhausted

#MusicChallenge Day 42 #HeIsAnEnglishMan from #HMS_Pinafore (1878) I was always in the school play as a child, normally singing in the choir. One year we did this number. Although I'm sure we said "English man" not "H'english man" as in this version. youtu.be/-kiLApX8FbQ

#MusicChallenge Day 41 #DoYouDreamInColour by #BillNelson An amazing track by the #BebopDeluxe front man. Video is great too. youtu.be/gFU60VtI_70 Go to #Wikipedia and look at Bill Nelson's #Discography. Ridiculously H-U-G-E list. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Ne...

#MusicChallenge Day 40 #WaysToBeWicked by #LoneJustice This track is just sublime. Nothing more needs saying. #Perfect youtu.be/u51H7gTAfLM

Just wow! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

#MusicChallenge Day 39 #MrRoboto by #Styx (1983) Many years ago, I invited a friend around to watch the #VHS of Styx. However, we couldn't hear it. So, I checked all of the plugs from player to amplifier only to find that the VHS was in mono. Great track, great video. youtu.be/uc6f_2nPSX8

#MusicChallenge I'm always up for new music to me. So if anyone wants to #MusicChallengeMe by suggesting a track and I will respond with my views on it.

#MusicChallenge Day 38 #IfIDieTomorrow by #JackWhite (2022) Another #Rockwords on @radiocaroline.bsky.social failure. This time it was the album #EnteringHeavenAlive, which this track is taken from. Listening to this track I think I need to get more Jack White. youtu.be/Jv6Fc04ragc

#MusicChallenge Day 37 #WeightOfTheWorld by #NeilYoung (1986) Another album produced by #DannyKortchmar. One of my fav (and probably everyone's least fav). All of the tracks have an unusual drum sound, some of which sound like they have been played backwards. Just try it youtu.be/L2t0j6_mWmM

#Gregg #Wallace says that the allegations against him that "they're not all true" is not the defence he things it is. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

#MusicChallenge Day 37 #Epic by #FaithNoMore (1989) I still love this track. So much energy. Sue and I used to play it when we were rock DJs. Everyone seemed to like it too. youtu.be/ZG_k5CSYKhg

#MusicChallenge Day 36 #EyeInTheSky by #TheAlanParsonsProject My wife to be, Sue, introduced me to TAPP in 1983. Great music, fantastic singers. I then wondered how I could have missed them and so many albums too. Thanks @ismua.bsky.social for liking my posts youtu.be/56hqrlQxMMI

#MusicChallenge Day 35 #EyesOfTheWorld by #EricMartin At the time of buying EM's album, I had no idea who he was. However, I did know the producer, #Danny_Kortchmar, and that was why I bought the album. What an #amazing_voice. youtu.be/xew72lWXqT8

#MusicChallenge Day 34 #OutOfTheDarkness by #LittleSteven There are some artists that is really hard to narrow it down to a single track. For me Little Steven is this artist. I selected this track as it was the first one I heard by him and wanted to hear more. youtu.be/WwJo5NfvAwo

#MusicChallenge Day 33 Resident by #EddieJobson/#Zinc (1983) This is one of my favourite albums of all-time. Both inventive and quirky. The sound is so crisp. What's not to love? youtu.be/A9dYe67my-Y

#MusicChallenge Day 33 #FreshGarbage by #Spirit I originally was introduced to Spirit through the #13th_Dream album and then rediscovered their back catalogue. youtu.be/k7MQ5rxUZsc

📣 Next month in Geneva, the World Health Assembly, the decision making body for the World Health Organisation @who.int will be debating whether to make #KidneyHealth a priority. We're calling in the UK govt to support this, find out more here 👉👇 kidneycareuk.org/about-us/pol...

#MusicChallenge Day 32 #DreamKid by #SutherlandBrothersAndQuiver (1973) Just heard this on @radiocaroline.bsky.social I loved this track. Unfortunately, it was in my older brother's collection, which he guarded closely. I was over the moon when I got my own copy. Still ❤️ it youtu.be/3Kk6pHcEqzM

#MusicChallenge Day 31 #LivesInTheBalance by #JacksonBrowne Sue, my wife, and I took up residency in #London JB was touring. Such a great album, it was worth the several nights he played the #Hammersmith #Odeon as it was at the time. This is an acoustic, live version. youtu.be/E_Ujtu4Yqgs

Sorry, I keep missing days of my #MusicChallenge due to various things going on in my life at the moment. Having a #plumber and other in to make a more #accessible #bathroom, wife in #hospital (which has #covid), I can't visit (due to covid) but still trying to support the old bat, sorry, my wife.

#MusicChallenge Day 30 #Teaser by #TommyBolin (1975) This album is just fantastic. The guitar work is just mind-blowing. The audio quality is just superb and this track comes from one of my favourite albums of all time. A sad loss when he died of a drugs overdose. youtu.be/ZbJZgbjW-xg

#MusicChallenge Day 29 #RedRiverRock by #JohnnyAndTheHurricanes (1959) I normally play #Rockwords, a crossword based quiz on @radiocaroline.bsky.social, between 12 and 1 on a Sunday, with #PatEdison. I was defeated by this number today. Curses. @andrevanos.bsky.social youtu.be/uh2WreVW8tk

The ward where my wife, Sue, is recovering from a #stroke, now has #covid. As I'm vulnerable due to the medication I'm on (immuno-suppression due to my #kidney_transplant) I won't be able to visit her for a week. I think we are both going to miss each other tremendously. #BestFriends

#MusicChallenge Day 28 #JohnnyCantRead by #DonHenley (1982) My wife, Sue, was known for dancing continuously. Someone tried to asked her which album this was from. Her reply was "I Can't Stand Still". The response was, "I know, but what album is it from?" youtu.be/KWwZm5bD700

#MusicChallenge Day 27 #ShipOfFools by #WorldParty (1987) I have a habit of buy media before I have anything to play it on. This was my very first CD. What a song and still very relevant today, no matter what country you live in. #KarlWallinger 1957 to 2024 #RIP youtu.be/B2nCugGQZO0

#MusicChallenge Day 26 #Question by #MoodyBlues (1970) Not only do I love this track but it also reminds me of seeing them in concert at #BrightonCentreUK when, due to a curfew, venue staff took the microphones away whilst the band were performing. Fans immediately upset youtu.be/-wDHvmCVRxU

Today, eleven years ago, I retired age 53. Sounds good? Actually, it was due to ill health (kidney failure and depression). However, it allowed me to chose how I used my time. I started a support group for mental health carers with @rethinkcharity.bsky.social and support kidney patients locally.

#MusicChallenge Day 25 #WhenTheMasterComes by #UliJonRoth (1985) I attended a concert in #PortsmouthUK to see #RobinGeorge. The venue was half full. George just went through the motions. UJR just went for it. #Astounding. Resulting in me becoming a fan. youtu.be/amPoC8U1z3k

#MusicChallenge Day 24 #TheLovecats by #TheCure Today I took my 19 year old cat, Gismo, to the vet for the last time. The dawn to dust music festival never bothered him. I hope this is an appropriate tribute to feline friend who has crossed the rainbow bridge. youtu.be/mcUza_wWCfA

#MusicChallenge Day 23 #LaidBackInAnger by #SutherlandBrothersAndQuiver I bought the album #BeatOfTheStreet on its release. I can't remember what appealed, but the album was terrific. A regular on my turntable. This track is just an example of how great it was. youtu.be/3Lc4XRtibuY

#MusicChallenge Day 22 #LetTheMusicDoTheTalking by #JoePerry When I bought this album I didn't know who Joe Perry was. I had heard of #Aerosmith but didn't know Perry's connection to them. This is an amazing track. Still love it. Just let the music do the talking. youtu.be/5mWT9DFjwwI

#MusicChallenge Day 21 #BattleHymn by #Manowar I was travelling to work on the train, listening to music, with a work colleague. They asked me what I was listening to. I told them Manowar. They had a listen & said they liked it. They liked #RichardClayderman. #CultureShock youtu.be/EtNqj9g8HJE

#MusicChallenge Day 20 #HeartsOfStone by #SouthsideJohnnyAndTheAsburyJukes After saying about melancholy yesterday, here is one that gets me every time. Anyone know what happened to Southside's left hand? youtu.be/BTaJDed2wfo
