Rebecca and I had an awesome 6.4 km daddy-daughter walk and roll this evening. Rebecca loved every dog she met.

A male Red-winged Blackbird plucking through some cattail fluff on a rainy day. Sometimes there are insects hiding in the hotdog-looking part of the cattail, but this bird didn't seem to find anything tasty.

Blanding's turtles, identified by the stripe of sunshine on their chin, are currently a species of special concern here in Michigan, and are threatened or endangered in nearby states. So it is always a treat to see them. These turtles can live to 90 years!

Evening Prayer: Loving God, we give thanks for the new learnings we received today that helped to create new awareness in our lives. We give thanks for the moments that stretched us out of our comfort zone and invited us into new growth. Help us to grow and expand our soul. Amen

Morning Prayer: Loving God, may we be open this day to new learnings and understanding. May we be open to deeper awareness of ourselves around what we need to change and where we need to grow. May we open our hearts to one another and ways we can offer peace to one another. Amen.

"Discernment, like deep listening, is an expression of prayer. Alone or with others, the heart is given to being alive to life by being alive to God's presence and leading." (Luther E. Smith Jr., "Hope is Here!")

Evening Prayer: Loving God, we give to You this evening our tiredness and our weariness. We welcome Your comfort and peace. Help us to release to You our cares so we can rest and replenish through the night. Watch over us with Your tender love and Your ever present grace. Amen.

Morning Prayer: Loving God, may Your peace go with us and be in us through this day. Help us to approach the day from a calm center. May the energy we bring to this day be more aspirational than oppositional. May You grant us the inner strength to meet today's challenges. Amen.

Morning Prayer: Loving God, we take deep breaths this morning and welcome Your grace and guidance through this day. We breathe in Your strength and exhale our stress. May each breath we take remind us of Your gift of life and love. You are as close to us as our next breath. Amen.

I loved talking with my friend @jemartisby.bsky.social! We had a conversation about ordination and even politics.

This morning's commute bird is this prothonotary warbler (reinita protonotaria/chipe dorado) that I almost missed at the Central Park Pool! One of the yellowest birds to ever grace our skies and bushes! #birds 🪶

““What would Jesus do?” kind of assumes Jesus stayed in the tomb. A better – admittedly less catchy – question is “What IS Jesus DOING and how am I invited to participate?”” – Nick O’Brien From: www.threads.com/@nickmobrien...

Morning Prayer: Loving God, help us to begin this new week with a calm center and a clear mind. Guide us in our decisions and setting of priorities. Help us to focus on what is ours to do and to let go of what we can't control. Help us act responsively and not reactively. Amen.

The power Jesus promises to his church is not political power, but power to be martyr-witnesses. (Acts 1:6-8)

Evening Prayer: Loving God, we leave this day, now, in Your loving hands and care. We leave our worries, concerns, and cares in Your hands and open our hearts to Your peace and rest. As we have given this day our best, we open ourselves to Your best experienced in grace. Amen.
