processing and need to vent a bit about this TT (from last year) I saw today and all the comments on it. The TT is of a transracial adoptee overjoyed to eat her food again.🥚 CW for video in next skeet: adoptee and a bit of disability inspo thrown in there too.

🥚 One of the things I’ve been meaning to write a thread about (bc I’ve been thinking about it a lot) is about adoption the theft of culture. And I will, at some point. In the meantime, here’s a short thread about being proud of the Korean people today and feeling proud to be Korean.

Can’t seem to get my thoughts together today to finish a post for International disabled people’s day. I keep writing and discarding. My brain is taking me in a hundred directions, and my need to be fully understood is making it hard to settle on whatever I have written. #disability

It’s only Tuesday and it feels like a years worth of stuff has happened this week. Tho honestly, this whole year has felt like that.

I meant to say: please donate what you can so that we can offer this festival for FREE to adoptees while paying our amazing panelists and workshop leaders, all adoptees 🥚as well 🙏🏼

I don't think most people realise how fucked up adoption is and how you can trace everything back to international politics and war. 🥚

If you're an adoptive parent contemplating writing a children's book about adoption, don't. You tend to write about the day you adopted your child, but that's not a story about adoption. It's a story about you. Let the adult adoptees write about adoption. It happened to us, not you. 🥚

The #adoption industry is making money off people’s suffering… 🥚

Black men are setting themselves on fire in a Virginia prison...

i’d love for cis people to stop seeing us as the “distraction from real issues”. you can care about the “real issues” AND defend us from being dehumanized. at the same time, even. multitask. ✨

Never stop making them uncomfortable, because they want us dead.

But somehow trans people are the danger? We just wanna live our lives and be left the fuck alone. Meanwhile y’all just let these things keep happening in your churches, even with tons of evidence that they’re full of predators.

CALL YOUR LEGISLATORS by Dec. 19 and tell them to co-sponsor the Adoptee Citizenship Act of 2024! Securing additional cosponsors for this important #AdopteeRights and #immigration bill will strengthen support for future legislation efforts. #CitizenshipForAdoptees #CitizenshipForAll

It's trans day of remembrance where we remember all of our siblings we've lost this year to violence and hate. We know we've lost at least 350 trans and nonbinary people have been murdered in the last year. We honor the dead and fight like hell for the living.

this may hit adoptees, hard 🥚

I have seen a lot of do not obey/comply in advance but I would also posit “malicious compliance” as a strategy as well. If you have to do the thing, do it in an ineffective way that ties it up in red tape and slows down the process, buying more time.

We are all witnessing anticipatory obedience in real time.

this essay is full of actual research showing trans women pose no threat to cis women in restrooms & other sex-segregated spaces. if you encounter any cis ppl discussing/debating the Mace/McBride/congressional restroom fuckery, pls share this link with them: juliaserano.medium.com/transgender-...

I never get over how small these numbers are. Look how easy it is to help out your favorite authors! (And your local bookstores!)

One of the best things about being friends with and working with other ADHD folks is creating a space for a judgement-free zone those ADHD things that non-adhd folks don't really understand. Things that make you embarrassed, feel shameful about, or feel exhausted by can be points of connection.
