got scared cause my wireless keyboard was dropping it's connection to my PC every 15 seconds. I restarted the PC and it hasn't happened in 30 minutes. I really didn't want to have to re-solder all those headers. Cool to be able to build stuff but it's so much scarier when it breaks 😅

The new propagandhi album is great as always. Posting this track for no reason in particular open.spotify.com/track/3ajE4r...

never thought I'd be that guy but arch and hyprland sort of rip. Genuinely enjoying toying around with all the config files and styling everything. I have a distinct memory of one of my friends in uni showing me a debian setup with i3. At the time I thought he was crazy.

Stevia is a blight to my taste buds and man kind. There should be more drinks available that are just basically unsweetened tea.

apparently jailbreaking your kindle is extremely easy and unlocks a bunch of features (like native access to EPUB/PDF and wireless sync with calibre). Probably going to try cracking mine sometime tomorrow. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qtk7...

wild that programming on almost every level (ops, frontend, backend, etc) is just guiding someone down a path and then error management when they stray off that path.

Security locked down local admin on your windows machines? Install WSL and do everything in there. never use windows again! problem solved!

wild to me how little information there is about setting up Grafana Tempo. Seems like it could be insanely powerful and affordable tracing if done right. Are people all really just using Sentry / DataDog for this?

checking the git blame and seeing myself

Unfortunately for AI, humans have a billion year head start on learning how to learn

trying to setup a k3s cluster and got burned out cause setting up debian bookworm takes so much time compared to ubuntu server. This is what i get for trying something new.

watching a video and they hit something so hard on the head. A.I is the end game of the "no effort" movement. It's been cool to be "low effort" since like 2015 and what is lower effort than getting a bot to do it all for ya.

WikiTok. Is what it sounds like. Pretty cool! wikitok.vercel.app

another good album from teenage punk/rock days recovered: open.spotify.com/album/0CA2EV...

have been working in office all week. I miss making my little cappucinos at home. looking forward to it tomorrow a.m.

Garbage collection is data cruelty

I hate that every time I look at a piece of art I find myself looking for signs of AI. I have to wonder if a human spent years building their skills and days or hours on the piece itself, or if some manager somewhere shit it out after starting at a loading spinner for 30 seconds.

is there a typographical term for wonky diffusion text? slop serif?

started organizing my mtg cards and I regret starting to organize my mtg cards. This was a bigger task than I though it would be and now I can't stop.

I have a brilliant plan, all I need is: - the copyright to everything - all the money in the world

full nerd status over here right now. Building `ffmpeg` from source because I have skill issues and can't find an up-to-date built package anywhere online.

If you're going to require MFA please, please, PLEASE allow proper TOTP or Passkeys. OTP-over-email or OTP-over-sms it is frustratingly slow. It breaks my focus and it has genuinely ruined the positive vibes I have about certain applications.

I have had the great fortune to eat many extraordinary meals at many extraordinary venues, but I honestly cannot recall a single dish which was improved by the addition of truffles.

pocketbase.io and astro.build are a match made in heaven for holiday projects. so easy to build with.

What does it mean for something to be Turing complete? I answer this question, and more, through a series of fully interactive Turing machine simulations! Play, pause, step forwards and backwards, and even write your own Turing machine programs in my latest blog post. samwho.dev/turing-machi...

I recommend no fewer than 4 copies of any beloved book. A paperback for traveling and lending to friends, an eBook for reading with greasy snack fingers, an audio book so you know how the characters' names are actually pronounced, and a pristine hardcover to be buried with you like a pharaoh
