Oooh. Tubi has the weird animated horror film The Wolf House (2018) streaming. If you're in the mood for something unlike you've ever seen, it's only 75 minutes. Well done, Tubi! #horror

For some reason I can't fathom, this article from 2014 just seems relevant today. www.politico.com/magazine/sto...

How i read this one, every time

I sometimes worry that we are so focused on tearing down the bad (and let's be honest, there's a LOT of bad out there), that we're not spending enough energy building the good. And as someone who's a big "Fixing the blame doesn't fix the problem" kind of guy, it feels kind of hopeless some days.

Honestly red states are where I’m pretty consistently looking for the future of both the godforsaken Democratic party and the progressive movement as a whole These people are battle-hardened, fiercely committed, used to pushing against terrible odds for even tiny victories

He definitely 100% ate her corpse

Nora is a great person and their stuff is amazing! Buy yourself (or someone special) something kick ass!

The willingness of democrats to slander a man the people feel inspired by, feel heard by, fought for, and CHOSE makes it very hard to rationalize supporting them ever again.

The replies are this are fascinating and also sad. We still conflate mental illness and immorality There's nothing "wrong" with Burke. He's behaving entirely rationally for a person in his position within a capitalist system "Rational" is a morally neutral word

There are only three political positions in America today 1) I like the fascism 2) I'll acquiesce to the fascism (reasons for this one vary: cowardice, access, denial, misguidedly thinking that acquiescence is savvy, etc) 3) I oppose the fascism The rest is details

Sick of this urban vs. rural discourse. We need urbanites and ruralites to come together for a common purpose: destroying the suburbs

I watched KPop Demon Hunters last night and aside from it being a just delightful animated film HOLY SHIT is the soundtrack catchy AF, I will not be at all surprised to hear these songs all summer long youtu.be/yebNIHKAC4A?...

Despite having been a comic book dork since I was a kid, I have never had a firm answer to the question "If you could have any super power in the world, what would it be?" At least until now.

Today's reading

Was working on something else, but got bitten by this idea and it just wouldn't go away until it was painted. So uhhhhh moths 🦋

You can't just call him that, you have to express it:

Expert historian of the Constitution: “Once a constitutional crisis becomes an endemic condition, the term no longer usefully describes our collapsing system….we live in an era of constitutional failure when the relevant institutions cannot fulfill their responsibilities.” Fr @jrakove.bsky.social

Washington’s April 1 population estimates are now out! 🥁 🥁 🥁 🥁 And Seattle has officially cross the 800,000 residents threshold!!! The state estimates that the city’s population stands at 816,600 residents, an increase of 18,900 residents over last year. 🥳 ofm.wa.gov/sites/defaul...

For your Friday distraction, a weird little love story. nathan-crowder.com/2023/02/14/s...

Let’s remember a hero:

Zohran Mamdani is saying things like “poverty is a policy choice and politicians have a duty to their constituents to make their lives affordable” and it is making a lot of politicians very very scared that they may actually have to start doing some actual service in their public service jobs.

If Jeff Bezos can afford to rent Venice for a $50 million wedding, he can afford to pay his fair share in taxes.

for the people who say they aren't on board with this rhetoric from the Gillbrands etc but don't want the party attacked, the best way to stop the party from being attacked is to excise the members so unpopular and out of touch that the base is attacking them

A popular socialist with momentum is all you need for a reminder on how its always been about class war, never culture. The culture war is what pits us against each other while the rich get richer.

To jump on this point, here are places that have implemented some of these radical ideas: City-owned groceries: Erie, Kansas Free buses: Akron, Ohio Ban on noncompete agreements: North Dakota

Bless you

If someone shows up with no badge, no name, no ID, no warrant, and their fucking face covered that’s not law enforcement, that’s a goddamn kidnapping. It should be illegal, and the fact that it isn’t already is a terrifying failure of democracy and the law.

Budgets aren't just numbers—they’re about values. We can grow our economy by investing in child care, housing, and health care that helps families. But ripping away health care from those who need it to fund giveaways for billionaires and corporations? That's morally bankrupt.

The problem with the current moment is that we're going to have to eventually stop comparing this to Nazism because what is occurring here is increasingly an organic, native grown version of fascism, with our own variants of blood libel and designated out groups beyond just Jews.

bro they got my 74-year-old lifelong registered democrat mom out here talking about "establishment democrats won't say the rich are robbing you blind because they ARE the rich." something is shifting
