After three months in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, a Filipino green-card holder who had been arrested at Seattle-Tacoma Airport has finally gone home.

As odd as it sounds ... Many Ableists can't conceive that disabled people who depend on Alt text can't magically manifest that Alt text on their own ... As if they believe that we are just asking for Alt text to be annoying or obnoxious to them.

A worker making $50,000 a year contributes to Social Security with 100% of their income. A CEO making $20 million a year contributes to Social Security with less than 1% of their income. Does that sound fair to you?

Fucking monster

The war was never going to stay over there so long as they kept making us pay for it, lied to us about it, and threatened us when we spoke for those whose voices had been silenced. Free Palestine or rip the West apart.

Trump has pardoned multiple convicted fraudsters — including a former GOP Congressman and two reality TV stars.  He's also dropped or halted 100+ enforcement actions against corporate offenders — including 34 companies that funded his inauguration. Is this being "tough on crime"?

We need to talk more about how leadership seems so content to throw its members to the wolves.

I don’t know why anybody finds this particular T-shirt objectionable, but here we are: y’all means all.

Whatever it is, this is my favourite sport.

Good News: The law firms that caved to Trump are losing major clients. Who wants a team of lawyers who are afraid to fight? ”A coward dies a thousand deaths...” Gift link: The Law Firms that Appeased Trump — and Angered Their Clients. www.wsj.com/us-news/law/...

Interesting which mass casualty events get massive coverage and which ones are ignored completely Almost like some lives don't matter

Now that Trump has blasted Leonard Leo, don't let the right wing sanitize the Federalist Society. Its members have been supporting voter suppression for years, its judges are among the hardest on voters. What will come from Trump now will be far worse, but do not judge democracy on a curve.

Time is perhaps the most precious thing we have, but do you own your own time so long as you must sell it to someone else in order to survive? Those born into wealth own their entire lifetimes. They aren't forced to sell their time. No one should be. Universal basic income is about time ownership.

You didn’t really think Elon Musk and DOGE were rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse by deploying a team of hackers into our government agencies— instead of expert analysts, did you?

There’s not a lot that can shock me about Israel and its supporters these days. But if you’d traveled back in time a few years ago it would be hard to explain to someone how we got to a timeline that includes Israel supporters openly advocating the assassination of Greta Thunberg.

People so often overlook the importance of good penmanship.

Republican lawmakers in Texas recently advanced a bill to allow concealed guns at polling places. This move could increase the risk of violence in a state where election workers already worry about their safety. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Donald Trump's wavering on tariffs and admission that he has not been able to bring the war in Ukraine to a halt is a sign he's finding out that world leaders are increasingly not taking him seriously. www.rawstory.com/trump-humili...

Many others are posting abt this too but this graphic viscerally shows how dire the presidential budget is for NASA 🔭🧪and worldwide astronomy. I can’t express how sad this makes me, as an American scientist. And it’s mostly already paid for projects, so also no logic in terms of saving money.

Walz nails it in this free WAPO article, saying people protesting at town halls are judging politicians by their willingness to stand up & fight. “They don’t want to see us standing like a deer in the goddamn headlines, and there’s a good reason for that. Nobody votes for roadkill.” wapo.st/4jugjAT

The childish performative defiance is exhausting. You honestly can't say which are their real superstitions and fears and which ones they cling to simply because they upset the people they hate. It's like that kid on the playground who ate bugs just because it made everybody else sick.

Armed FBI agents knocked on the doors of two pub defenders at SEVEN AM, asking to talk w them, having made no earlier effort to reach out. Both PDs represented ppl detained by ICE. FBI said they “wanted to reach out before work.” Which is nakedly not true. HARASSING DEFENSE LAWYERS IS REALLY BAD.

We have a US Senator who: Is a woman, but ok with stripping women’s rights. A military veteran, but ok with stripping veteran’s benefits. A survivor or sexual abuse, but ok with supporting multiple abusers. Now she tells her constituents to go ahead and die. What will it take???

A good opportunity for Democrats to drop their current message -- "We apologize for being Democrats" -- and pick up a new one: "We can have nice things."

more and more these days, I find myself thinking that you can accept the discipline of your political goals or you can accept the discipline of your resentments.

These birds are outrageous lol
