I know there's a lot going on, but the Secretary of Homeland Security declaring that federal troops are in California and Los Angeles to "liberate" the state and city from its duly-elected leaders really is a fourteen-alarm fire.

It's a Heathers-era Hello Kitty avatar, and I'm not that well informed or erudite. But yeah.

Exclusive: I have confirmed that the federal government is still refusing to process permit applications for land-based wind projects almost six months into the Trump administration. Not just offshore. It threatens untold billions of capital investments in the United States. via @heatmap.news

Video of Senator Padilla's detainment by Secret Service and FBI. Please, share. 1. Sen Padilla identified himself 2. He did not lunge at anything 3. He was forced to the ground and handcuffed for asking a question 4. Government agents acted to stop the recording of their actions

Hard to overstate the harms of the whitewashed civil rights movement right now, widely taught as essentially passive petitioners of the benevolent state. The movement succeeded only bc it mobilized ppl through a variety of tactics including self-defense & economic warfare *against* the racist state.

@cira-csu.bsky.social So what can Jen-average-person (aka me) do to support the storm data project? Who do we reach out to in our community to tell them to send the data? City, county, state? What language do we use when asking for the data? send to whom? I need this info to support the project.

The only thing that is dangerous about LA is the presence of paramilitary forces who are being encouraged to snatch children and be violent towards folks outraged by that.

It's exactly what you voted for. Trump campaigned on his inhumane policies on immigration.

The Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), a federal law, mandates that hospitals receiving Medicare funds provide emergency care to anyone who presents at their emergency department, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. But it will make health care cost more.

I may join Steam for this.

Remember stopping at gas stations and checking out that map taped to the front window?

Meltdown May is over and this year it inaugurated Giant Baby June

"As you meet with friends, groups, and activists in preparation for June 14, bring up the topic of focus. Talk about the regime instead of a cause. Start putting the need for a shift in thinking into the conversations." -- Tara Guillot

Cuts have consequences, illustrated. As seen on TV 📺

Under the premise of no control over what is taken out of your body, control of what is put in your body is questionable as control of your body is lost in the prior. Contraception, penises, microplastics, toxic, hazardous, carcinogenic materials, it's all the same. You have no control.

I am fucking begging you all to wear a mask. It's not hard and it protects you and others. abc7.com/post/nb181-n...

Coming from a county with 1.6 million people, I find a county with 800 people mind-boggling. I mean, why not consolidate? Is micromanagement the point? 1.4% is 11 people in Wheeler County. It's easier to watch and harass 11 people than 22,000 people, so that makes sense.

I definitely want more housing in California, especially infill housing. I'm not sure what my opinion is on all aspects of Wicks proposal, but it is worth taking a look.

PSA to the currently middle-aged:

FOR OBVIOUS REASONS, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE UP TO DATE ON YOUR VACCINATIONS NOW.

Vaccination against COVID for pregnant persons significantly decreases incidence of COVID related stillbirths. Removing this vaccine recommendation demonstrates a disregard for the welfare of the fetus. www.propublica.org/article/covi...

Some folks just thought it was trite when people warned if they come for the most marginalized, sooner or later they are coming for you.

Just like we warned would happen

Cool, cool, no supply chain management. Maybe the Trump Administration has not seen Episode III: Revenge of the Sith so are unfamiliar with Order 66. When talking to children about the importance of SCM, this is the example. All of them, always, get it. Would our president get it? Obviously, no.

If you don't want to be compared to the Gestapo, one neat trick is to not engage in a campaign of terror around the country wherein you kidnap people off the streets to slave dungeons in accommodation of an autocratic fascist and his nationalist movement's desire for racial purity.

You'd think the antitax crowd would be all over this. Every other tax is pointed out to us. Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, where are you?

The PERFECT illustration of the axiom that people have 2 relationships to information: 1. some want knowledge (they'll engage with info that challenges them) 2. some want certainty (they'll take just about any answer to AVOID the work of thinking) This divergence shapes everything in a society.

World Central Kitchen has run out of food to serve in Gaza. Its bakery ("recently the last working bakery in Gaza") is out of flour. There are 100,000+ tons of food in staging areas within driving distance of Gaza, and Israel refuses to let them in wck.org/news/gaza-up...

Little boys play with dolls, too. All those G.I. Joes, or whatever barbie wannabe is popular today, those are dolls.

This is not an original thought but it continues to be astounding to me how many people were clearly just waiting for society’s permission to be a fucking asshole

I have family, US citizens all, that lives outside the US, and they have raised doubts about coming to the US to visit elderly relatives because of so much hostility and chaos. I can't imagine why a tourist would want to come at this moment.

Dear Canada 🇨🇦 we love you and are proud to have you as our ally to the north. Stay exactly as you are. Trump’s nonsense about merging with the USA is absurd and doesn’t speak for us.

Will US citizens - not accused of committing any crime - nonviolent - in the country legally - engaged in speech the administration objects to be locked up? Without due process, nothing stops this for anyone.

This is obvious but it needs to be repeated every single day. Republicans in the House and Senate own 100% of what Trump is doing.

As a friend pointed out, the government, be it city, county, state, or federal, has long seized property with and without warrants, as in this example, in my own backyard.

Without due process, there is no recourse to the charge that you are subject to deportation or imprisonment, citizen or not. No due process, no chance to show you are a citizen. If due process isn't applied to everyone, it's not a right for anyone.
