Empty shops bit tatty high street. News two shops and bank branch closing down. I can't help frustrated. Bus routes being poor and not on time. Nothing works. Just adds to a sense idk. How to describe it but feeling things need to change.

Something about gardening that relaxing even if I'm not being so successful first try.

Reading the news about section 899. I can't help but feel markets and money folks are under pricing the risk. Trump admin wants interfere with others domestic tax policy. Big worry is we see bond vigilantes. Causing a global shockwave. Corrosion to trust and faith in America.

I feel like people are underestimating what Trump could do. Not just removing contacts, investigations, putting musk behind bars for what he did. Seizing his assets and more. You don't cross trump he goes for vengeance. Uncertain times ahead. I'm watching for actions over words.

Taylor Swift’s project to re-record most of her catalog came to a close last week, when she announced that she bought the rights to her early masters. Fans are relieved.

Michelle Yeoh is really talented. Everything Everywhere All at Once her best performance? I'm not sure but it certainly a rather good movie. I didn't realise how much I love this genre and surreal style of movie.

Oh the (lack of) joy of living in a 51-49% world, constantly balancing precariously between liberalism and illiberalism. One day, hopefully, there will be a decisive shift back towards liberalism. Perhaps.

Nick Clegg says asking artists for use permission would ‘kill’ the AI industry

1,553 days until the next UK general election. Perhaps Labour MPs should spend at least some of them (the next 1000, say?) arguing and thinking about things other than electoral strategy?

Look I get #bungie needs new audience and game. Extraction shooter which is niche and hardcore is questionable. Really have to ask who thought that was smart. My guess is somebody saw a gap in console market. I can't see #Marathon working out. Pete parsons needs to go Sony.

On a technical level problem with robot taxis is lack of data. They would be smarter and safer if they had access to other cars info or location data. But that creates a safety nightmare. Practical level replacing cars with more cars. Wouldn't it make more sense to have better public transport?

Firm believer in video game emulators. Yes original is good but sometimes performance is better emulated. Visiting the arcade was eye opening. Also we should keep that history my worry is online focused live service games disappear without a copy. #videogames

Here's Gary Stevenson calling for a return to the 1970s, when the top rate of tax was 98%. But did the rich ever pay it? We spoke to 1970s tax dodgers and ex-HMRC staff & and crunched the data. A 🧵, but here's a spoiler: the rich pay more tax *now*.

Impossible to change the narrative if you don't want to make a positive or different case too.

I feel disgusted and disappointed with the current labour government in the UK. I understand the situation is bad further decline and hurting disabled and poor is not what the party values is. Just raise taxes and be honest.

Dear god that is madness and gift to Nigel. Who can promise to undo that and labour stuck. Who the fuck are they listening too?

Ten years ago, mainstream politicians looked at the performance of Farage's party and decided they needed more euroscepticism and more anti-migration politics In 2025, Farage's new party is doing even better and many politicians will conclude they need to do the same thing as before

Liberals in Canada has performed a miracle. From certain defeat to still in government. Not sure what lessons to draw from it but my god that impressive. Good luck Carney time improve lives of Canadians.

I have successfully not killed houseplants in my window. They seem to be doing well after a couple of years.

Obvious point to make @stephenkb.bsky.social but perhaps labour current lack being prepared to govern was due rishi holding up the talks until last minute and not many happened. Had all these ideas but quickly hit the wall and no political desire to climb the wall to face challenges.
