To jump on this point, here are places that have implemented some of these radical ideas: City-owned groceries: Erie, Kansas Free buses: Akron, Ohio Ban on noncompete agreements: North Dakota

Trump on his budget today: It reduces the deficit! (It raises the deficit by $3.4T) No tax on social security! (That’s not in the bill) No cuts to Medicaid! (Largest Medicaid cuts in history).

Free busses...or masked police-state goons rounding up law-abiding workers and residents, separating them from their families, and sending them to gulags. Tell me which outrages you more.

Deporting children of military veterans because they were born on an overseas military base. This man has no citizenship now.

The word "Kafkaesque" fails to do justice to Kilmar Abrego Garcia, migrant Everyman who got in his car and ended up in a Salvadoran gulag, with a regime that will never let him free Why they defy judges and invent crimes to deny one man due process. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/kilm...

The world is drowning in plastic. Experts say we need to stop making so much. But the plastics industry is peddling a "solution" that works like magic. Don't be fooled. (Published June 2024)

Another nice little story about the best newspaper in America.

Boyle: For every American household that makes under $55,000 a year, they will be poorer as a result of this bill. So it's quite clear under this Republican betrayal— the poor get poorer, the rich get richer, and the middle class falling further behind. This is wrong.

Vaccination schedules on the CDC website have already started changing under RFK Jr. So we published a guide to the evidence-based vaccine recommendations in place *before* all 17 members of the advisory panel were abruptly dismissed by the new admin. www.scientificamerican.com/article/see-... 🧪

Melissa Hortman will be the first woman to lie in state in Minnesota, and her dog Gilbert is set to be the first dog to lie in state.

A fun thing about American politics is that more people voted in New York City in a June primary than live in five states that get two senators.

i am simply asking the press to cover the government sending masked thugs to rip people from their crying children and shipping them to a foreign concentration camp with the same ferocity they cover a trans kid playing jv tennis in sheboygan

A U.S. citizen on their way to work abducted by ICE then locked in a basement, with federal government employees refusing to consider indisputable proof of citizenship. Congress endorses it. SCOTUS keeps thwarting judges from even slowing it. What more is there to say? We live under fascism now.

The Bove allegations should be treated as something akin to Watergate, or Iran Contra. The administration was attempting to do something they *knew* was illegal (anticipating the courts saying as much), and then trying to COVER IT UP. Only here instead of it being run out of the WH or NSC, it’s DOJ

“In Pasadena last week, a man stepped out of his unmarked vehicle at an intersection, unholstered his pistol and aimed it at a group of pedestrians before returning to his car… That incident left the police chief of Pasadena resigned to figure out whether it was a crime or part of a federal raid.”

Kash Patel's FBI did a "raid" of a person's home just like the one that Kash said was unlawful when it targeted Trump. And for the same crime!! I can't wait for the target's selective prosecution claim. www.justice.gov/opa/pr/depar...

Incredible how every single time this guy lies – literally every fucking day, all the time about things big and small – Peter Baker and his colleagues at the New York Times act like its the first time. Only a bunch of fools as big as they are would fail to note the pattern.

in all the nonsense, did you miss that they’re paving over the rose garden www.usatoday.com/picture-gall...

DHS keeps accusing critics of "assaulting officers" when videos show otherwise. In some cases, it's the protesters + prominent Dems who are roughed up or injured by officers. It's "classic policing," says @dreanyc123.bsky.social. “The harder you get beaten, the more likely you’ll get those charges"

We're in uncharted territory with this SCOTUS. They're making decisions--without regard to precedent, without regard to norms, without regard to justice, without regard to the impact on the rule of law in the U.S., without regard to consequences, and very often with a complete lack of transparency.

It's impressive how SCOTUS managed to eviscerate the rule of law on two independent levels: 1) it rewards lawless disregard of court orders; and 2) makes Due Process optional. And, they did so without even explaining their ruling.

MAGA Friday: No new wars! MAGA Saturday: Ok bombings but no regime change! MAGA Sunday: There’s really no other solution than regime change.

Democrats are racking their brains trying to find the "Joe Rogan of the left" while doing everything they can to defeat people like Zohran Mamdani and AOC, who actually possess the skills they're so desperately looking for.

all i want is to one day own a modest sized home in a walkable neighborhood and raise money for shelter animals. wear an outfit i like, walk to the grocery store, buy some nectarines, feed cats, and live in peace. just don't understand why achieving this is so hard

A Dem lawmaker and her husband were killed by a guy for their political views and it’s already out of the news.

The war in Iran is illegal under the UN Charter, under War Powers Act, and didn't even comply with National Security Act.

Whether it's Joe Biden's son's business partner writing "the big guy" in an email when Biden was ex-vice president or Donald Trump selling crypto, NFTs, bibles, gold sneakers, watches, and cell phone plans while he is the current president, both sides have monetized executive branch positions.

Shouldn’t the NY Times headline note that this new policy breaks the law?

“Americans are being forced to accept masked paramilitary forces stopping you anytime, anywhere—demanding to know where people are from,” says @chrislhayes.bsky.social. “It is an assault on the idea of America itself.”

ICE and the DHS have claimed multiple times an increase in assaults against their agents to justify officers wearing masks and refusing to identify themselves. The data states otherwise. https://trib.al/xRANYpj

This is how you write a headline involving Confederate Lost Cause bullshit.

Sayed Naser served as a U.S. military interpreter in Afghanistan. Now he’s being deported. The Taliban assassinated his brother and kidnapped his father. All because he helped us. Why are the feds trying to deport him, even though his asylum case is still pending? Not justice, it’s a betrayal.

He was detained outside church. “He was in chains at his feet,” Alondra Sotelo-Garcia told a local news outlet about seeing her father arrested. “Shoelaces were taken off, his belt was off, he didn’t have his ring, he didn’t have his watch. Everything was taken from him.”

When Republicans are in power, the deficit doesn’t matter, only tax cuts for the wealthy do. Then when they are out of power, suddenly it is all important.

Here is the LAPD telling ICE to GTFO of Dodger Stadium. The only reason they came was to start a riot. What they got was the boot. More of this, California.

Researchers put astronomical & astrological (yes, astrological) data into an AI and ... successfully predicted stock market movements 99% of the time. Noted without comment because I have no idea what to say.

Oof. Here's a new bit of research in JAMA suggesting that Long Covid has surpassed asthma as the most common chronic condition affecting children.

Three things @rasjbaraka.bsky.social and @bradlander.bsky.social have in common: 1) Both are suing Kristi Noem 2) Her goons conducted premeditated arrest of them 3) Before an election www.emptywheel.net/2025/06/18/r...

This is a vital message: one of the larger reasons BlueSky is refreshingly free of alt-right shitlords is because in the early days we made a gentleperson’s agreement to starve these fuckos out and it worked. No likes, no quotes, no engagement. They got bored and left. Please keep the Old Ways.

Rest in peace, Gilbert. 💔

“They cut speed limits, changed street design, removed space for cars… Now it appears that work is paying off. #Oslo & #Helsinki are reaping the rewards of committed action on making their roads safer, reducing pedestrian fatalities to zero last year.” #VisionZero www.theguardian.com/world/2020/m...

Adding: JD is only on Bluesky either to 1) create cause to initiate legal action v Bluesky in the US or 2) do so in the EU.

Reporter: Five fellow mayoral candidates came here within 90 minutes of you being arrested and called for your release. What does that say about the tenor of the mayor's race? Lander: Was one of them Andrew Cuomo? Reporter: It was not. Lander: Imagine that!
