For those kind folks who are concerned for my coffee welfare. I managed to buy a new camping stove in Aberdeen. It’s a Primus, so excellent quality. Extremely efficient too.

My camping spots are not always peacefully idyllic. Here, on the grass verge of a lane alongside the very busy A90 on the outskirts of Balmedie. Despite the traffic noise, I know I’m tired enough to sleep soundly.

The ghostly hiker of Aberdeen 😂

First real disaster of the adventure. My camping stove is faulty. Struggling to make my coffee this morning. Looks like I’ll be purchasing a new one as I walk through Aberdeen. Boo! 😞

The dolphins welcomed me when I arrived in Aberdeen this afternoon. 18 miles today and I’m footsore. I can’t believe I made out here!

A new day. New vistas ahead. New experiences. Every possibility awaits.

A glorious sunrise here in Stonehaven this morning.

Every time I arrive at a notable location on my journey, I can’t help thinking, “I made it here on foot from the Mull of Galloway.” It’s not a big headed thing. It’s a satisfied sense of accomplishment. Dunnottar Castle, Stonehaven. I’m feeling good. 😊

It’s a clean pair of socks day! 😂 (Small pleasures)

Wherever I pitch i pitch my tent, I make my home. It’s always good to find a spot to camp at the end of the day. Especially if my feet are sore and I’m ready to stop. It’s a challenge to find places to camp in an intensive agricultural landscape.

I’ve reached Aberdeenshire! Closing in on Peterhead. (Slowly)

It’s all road walking at the moment. We don’t have a network of public paths through agricultural land up here. Tarmac is unrelenting and it’s mind over matter for me. However, the 300 mile mark was passed today. This pleases me considering I’ve had quite a bit of time off from walking this month.

Wherever I pitch my tent, I make my home. Carrot Hill close to Dundee. It’s incredibly windy up here. Double pegged to make sure I don’t get blown away!

Breakfast before I cross the Tay into Dundee. 😊

Woohoo! I’ve made it to the Tay Estuary. Can’t believe I’m here.

A man with a spring in his step. I’ve not felt this good in years. Not only am I feeling physically fit & healthy, but my mind is the most settled, content & at ease too. This is truly wonderful for me. I’m also proving to myself, being over sixty does not mean easing back on my adventurous spirit.

I hit the trail again this morning and I feel a glorious sense of anticipation.

Strutting your stuff on the Fife Coastal Path.

I’m taking a day off and where else would I be but the home village of Alexander Selkirk, AKA Robinson Crusoe. There are many times in my outdoor adventures when I have likened my experiences to Crusoe. By design, not necessity. I love solitude in the wild.

Crossing the Forth Road Bridge into the Kingdom of Fife. It was an amazing day.

I walk onwards today after a restful day off. I stayed with my good friend Mick and his family. I hope to reach the Kingdom of Fife today but I’m not sure. I’ve developed a very painful right foot, so I’ll be taking things slowly.

I’m on Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh. I walked here from the Mull of Galloway. I’m feeling rather pleased!

Five miles earlier this morning. The Pentlands looking shrouded & mysterious. I’m alone in these wonderful hills. Quite lovely.

Edinburgh tomorrow!

Wherever I pitch my tent, I make my home. Here, on Hare Hill in the Pentland Hills. A superb day. 15 miles of rough walking & airy solitude. I loved it. It’s windy, so great to get my Shine Turbine working to recharge my power banks.

The Pentland Hills stretch out before me. It’s a cooler day with rain in the air. Wonderful to be back on the trail again. Edinburgh, here I come!

After my presentation to the Keswick Mountain Festival, it was an honour to be invited to dial in to the Odyssey 30th anniversary celebration. I’m proud to be an ambassador for the charity and my current Four Corners adventure is raising funds for them. www.justgiving.com/page/nick-li...

Thank you so much Sue.

My presentation at the Keswick Mountain Festival this afternoon. It went well. It was an honour and I enjoyed myself. Back on the Four Corners trail again tomorrow. 😊

Feels great to see my name on the list of speakers at the Keswick Mountain Festival. A grand day for it.

Mental Health Awareness Week. This is my story. I’m so fortunate to be able to recount it. As tough as it is, I hope my sharing helps increase awareness about severe mental illness and the need for suicide prevention. Best wishes. www.thenational.scot/news/1930611...

This hard truth I learned living with depression. It’s not easy to embody this approach but I’ve discovered it works for me. Healing is not always the eventual absence of my mental ill health symptoms. It can be the strengthening of my inner resources. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

It was a strange feeling on the train south from Edinburgh, to pass the point where I crossed the Clyde on foot the day before. I smiled to myself with a deep feeling of satisfaction. I feel good about what I’m doing. I’m feeling strong and well again! #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek 😊

Pausing my Four Corners Expedition here in Biggar to head to the Lakes, where I’m proud to be a guest speaker at the keswickmountainfestival.co.uk I’ll continue on my way again on Sunday afternoon. 😊

Mental Health Awareness Week. Recovery is possible. Even if the illness is enduring, recovering a sense of self is attainable. With community support & compassion (& inner determination), change can occur. This is me a year ago & me now. It’s been a tough road but I’m pleased to have trodden it.

How my day began today. Wonderful.

That’ll be me then… 😂

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week. The adventure I’m undertaking was conceived this time last year when I was in hospital with clinical depression. I believed suicide would bring the peace I craved. I’m grateful for the care I received, leading to where I am now - in a tent in the hills. Peaceful.

Wherever I pitch my tent, I make my home. Here on the summit of Ravengill Dod, overlooking Abington and the A74(M). A perfect spot!
