Hi, okay, so… Carrie’s mom predicted the kids would all laugh at her, but she also said that Carrie’s dress was red when it was actually pink… but it DOES turn red from all the blood. Was Carrie’s mom psychic?!

Giving notes is a huge skill that needs to be taught through the creative work pipeline. Only maybe 1% of it is actually stating things you didn't like. So many people get into jobs where they have to give notes and they have no idea how to give useful, proper notes.

This is so fucking sad and pathetic. If you don’t do ANY of that shit yourself, you’re not a writer, you’re an MAYBE an editor. But professional editors are worth far more than that. I cannot with this bullshit.

This is actually the best advice I could give a comics editor. Your feedback should never just be corrections, but rather the totality of your thoughts. Not just what needs adjusting, but also what you loved, what made you laugh, what moved your spirit, what surprised you that you weren’t expecting.

Seriously though, don't rob yourselves of the riches of all sorts of punctuation. Used properly/effectively, they're amazing tools for rhythm and communicating emotion, tone, and intent in one's writing.

When critique turns into accusations, that’s when you get blocked.

My least favorite thing about the HBO Max thing is that they seem to be in on the joke.

Actual question -- do they go back and update all the opening credits to their different shows/movies to reflect "HBO Max Original" or do they keep it all as "Max Original"????

Today's writing:

So, just... not really a whole tone of shows announced at a point where I could tell my reps to submit me, huh?

!!!

If there’s any evidence of media illiteracy, it’s the reactions to that Stephen King tweet.

One of my best friends released her debut novel this week and I couldn't be more proud! Go check out #TheGlitteringEdge!

A cool thing about writing for animation is unlike live action writers who can read about new shows & renewals in the trades & contact their reps to express interest in staffing is by the time cartoon shows are announced they were staffed a year ago, may already be done & you had no idea it existed.

Just tell me if he likes the gays and theys or not.

Did people always cosplay at concerts or is this a Beyoncé thing?

I’m thrilled to be joining Tui T. Sutherland on this journey, adapting her fantastic WINGS OF FIRE novels as a television event series for Amazon Prime. Pyrrhia is a realm of wonder, epic drama, and hope for a better tomorrow. I can’t wait for you to see it take flight. variety.com/2025/tv/news...

The president of the executive board of your guild publicly liking posts regarding genAI companies, no matter how “ethically” the models are sourced feels VERY NOT GREAT.

Quite the payoff

I see infinitely more people complaining that young men are told “YOU’RE BAD” than ever see anyone actually saying that. Maybe the real problem is constantly telling boys that a mysterious, non-existent “other “people believe they’re bad and are out to get them.

lowkey blaming women and feminism for hurting the feelings of young men and driving them into the coddling warmth of right-wing grifters is so annoying lmao

Thunderbolts* slapped.

The coolest thing about being a writer and working in a show you’re so incredibly proud of is seeing fans talk about the characters like they’re real, living people. When the fans are that invested, you know you did a good job.

Damn, Mid-century Modern did a REALLY good job writing off a character we had only just begun to love.

The greatness of Buffy S7 is lost on so many of you.

My current staff writing gig is wrapping soon! I'm Nick "Rocket" Rodriguez, a screenwriter who's goal is to make television more colorful! I tell stories about people who become their own heroes, and pass down that strength to the next generation. LinkTree for more: linktr.ee/NickRodrigue...

I think we fucked up as an industry when we started calling it “Computer Generated” Imagery and not “Computer MODELED” Imagery. That was the first thing that made laymen think, “Oh, the computer does all the work, then?”

a lot of societal ills could be fixed by 22-episode seasons of sci-fi shows about horny little freaks showrunners in the 90s knew it, yet somehow this critical ancestral knowledge has been lost to time

I love my echo chamber where everyone values the humanity of other people and enjoys the arts.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN????

Framed - One Frame Challenge #145 🎥 🟩 ⬛ ⬛ ⬛ ⬛ ⬛ framed.wtf/one-frame

Six years ago my first paid writing gig came out. The app doesn’t exist anymore, but it was a fun time and it was cool to play while it lasted!
