I thought Jake Tapper’s new book was cancelled 😂

Congestion pricing means kids eat before school: "A delayed arrival often results in missed instructional time, and because New York City public schools offer free breakfast to all students, a delayed arrival at school could mean a lost opportunity for a nutritious meal..."

The climate impact of ChatGPT is so frustrating because you can’t get rid of plastic, or private jets or cars, but here’s a product you can opt out of on day one and the same people who recycle, who don’t litter, who believe in climate change are like “This is worth it to never use my brain again.”

So Jack bike himself to soccer, and then to brunch, and then to the Wharf where we spontaneously went Kayaking for an hour (his first time!) and then biked himself back home. 8 or 9 miles.

Brian and I brought all of the party supplies (including table and chairs) by bike - though it took two trips.

My hero

6 yr old girl called me out on my shitty chipping pedicure 😂

Brian and I were joking the other day about what would be in the hypothetical NoMa museum. Definitely a “how many affordable units did the Burger King have” exhibit 😂

Local DC post for the day, but it's insane how successful the transit-oriented development around NoMA has been. The station is now ~50% busier than it was in 2019, despite overall metro ridership still being down. This year, it's busier than Dupont Circle or Columbia Heights

Rivet the kitten is studying the new DC bike map

If Metro gets Tap to Pay with credit card working, does that mean those fare payments won’t be counted for Metro Unwrapped???? Important to know!

DFHV driver is enforcing no parking in the bike lanes and reprimanding drivers using his intercom! Even reminder hotel valet to keep the bike lane clear!!! (Not that he has any actual enforcement power)

The plane being a White Elephant gift is the funniest turn this saga could have taken

I mean honestly my best commuting tip is live within a mile of your work/school/grocery store.

When even your child’s extracurriculars (Theatre and Piano) send emails about losing funding due to DOGE cuts or building scholarships for families who lost gov jobs. 💔 Living in DC these affects are inescapable.

BTWD

This is the purest distillation of American car culture I’ve ever seen.

Saw Adam Tuss's piece about the Edgewood stop removals, but from this sheet those stops are not listed as eliminated. Did Metro already change their minds? www.wmata.com/initiatives/...

My cheat sheets for the Better Bus Network:

Just caught this -- Better Bus Network basically reinvented the X3 with the C57 www.wmata.com/service/bus/...

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Turns out that traffic modeling is kind of voodoo, and that predicted increase in traffic in the Bronx that a lot of congestion pricing opponents hung their hats on did not come to pass

Still thinking about how my 6 year old walked 10 miles (with a 2000 ft elevation) in only 4 hours. ❤️ An occasional “I’m tired” toward the end but no real whining or complaints other than the couple of times he tripped and fell.

Congestion pricing works.

A 10 mile hike later…! Highly recommend!

Happy Mother’s Day! We made this for all the Metro moms because they know the best art isn’t found in museums. Feel free to hang on your fridge. We would be honored. ☺️

Sure.

Going on our first group hike thanks to GGW’s recommendation! Taking the bus to SNP and already unexpected ran into our upstairs neighbor who said she’s been doing it off and on for a decade!
