“I’m just going to say it, shame on any of us who throws a trans child under the bus for thinking they’re going to get elected. That child deserves our support. Don’t worry about the pollsters calling it distractions, because we need to be the party of human dignity.”

If you're in L.A. tonight, I am doing an event at the Hammer Museum with Amber J. Phillips, where we will be talking about the Portable Feminist Reader! It's free: hammer.ucla.edu/programs-eve...

This came up in my feed and it's so tight no light escapes.

Time to HOWL!!! Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has reintroduced a bill requiring the federal government to remove the gray wolf from federal protections afforded by the Endangered Species Act (ESA) across the entire 48 states! ACT NOW —> wildernesswatch.salsalabs.org/hr845-wolf-esa

These sorts of questions lead me to wonder things like: is the questioner ten years old? If they are over the age of, say, 18, have they ever seen a film or read a book made before 2001? Because one watch of National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) answers this question.

I think a lot of people don't understand that in a world where everyone uses "AI" to vomit out statistically average text, the ability to use words uniquely becomes a premium skill and a critical differentiator.

Another starred review for THE BEWITCHING, this time from Library Journal. That makes a perfect *4* starred reviews from the trade journals (PW, Kirkus, Booklist and LJ). This is out next month and I don't know what else to say except pre-order now. www.libraryjournal.com/review/the-b...

Sadie Betty Grable.

is it time to bust out my "bigfoot is bears" photo collection again? if your mental image of a bear is a thick-furred, fat glossy male bear in autumn, you're probably not prepared for how weird their proportions can look in spring, or when walking upright, like they frequently do.

After months of horror stories, I'm crying watching these good citizens fight back. These people are restoring a little of my faith in America.

It's terrifying that I, a completely unqualified person, am more qualified to run FEMA than this idiot.

I was at the library for six hours today the library kicks ass

Crawlspace cleared and sealed up tight! Haven't seen the skunks in a day or two, but a little cayenne pepper in a few areas should discourage them. There were a lot of tangerine peels in the crawlspace. Apparently skunks, obligate carnivores, enjoy the occasional tangerine.

“There is a crime here that goes beyond denunciation. There is a sorrow here that weeping cannot symbolize. There is a failure here that topples all our success.”

DNF a book by a well-regarded writer of spy fiction because the first 2 chapters consisted of the two main male characters thinking about sex with their hot but empty-headed girlfriends. The woman are props - all boobs and insatiable lust. The men are so thoughtful and quietly tortured! Yeah - no.

Can’t stop imaging the meeting where someone raised their hand and said “sexual harassment, but it drains your water supply”

Happy pride month ❤️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

I love a good movie facts thread. I saw this opening weekend on the big screen. Not De Palma's greatest (It's a tad hokey) but film-school-nerd-girl me ate up the staircase scene.

Actualfax Shakespeare scholar hat: the plays are meant to be EXPERIENCED, and this is why. God, this is good. So so good.

Unbelievably horrified by this attack in Boulder. We don’t know the full story of the attacker, but no matter what it is, let me be clear: Senseless, antisemitic attacks do not help Palestinians, Jews, or Israelis. Committing terror attacks against people standing for hostages is disgusting.

All women.

This no-kill animal shelter is in desperate need of kitten food, kitten milk replacement, and other supplies. If you post a screenshot in my replies showing that you donated at least $10 (even as a Chewy gift card), I'll answer a style-related question for you. Donation info in their thread.
