When I graduated college in 2010, I interviewed for 1 job and got it. In 2022 I applied to ~6 jobs for about 2 months and interviewed at 3 or 4 companies before I got a job. Now, in 2025 I’ve been searching for over 6 months, submitted probably 20-30 applications and have gotten ZERO INTERVIEWS!

What is the actual purpose of “voluntarily” disclosing your race and gender and disabilities on a job application? It shouldn’t matter one way or the other, right? I don’t want to be hired BECAUSE I’m a male-presenting white person, and I don’t want to be rejected because of it either.

Therapy questionnaires are weird these days because they’ll ask you like “Have you been worrying too much about different things?” Like… I have been worrying a lot about a lot of things, yes. But is it too much, given the current reality? Absolutely not.
