Putting away the "He Kept Us Out of New Wars" sign, hastily painting "Iraq War Good, Iran War BETTER"

From paleoliberal.bsky.social on the other site...

"NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE," he shouts as he plunges into a new war.

I have never lived in New York; I do not expect ever to live in New York; I have long resented the parochialism that prompts New York-based national media to give NYC's mayoral contests more attention than elections in, say, Houston. But I concede that this race is entertaining.

BREAKING: Trump had another conversation with somebody

About that alleged surge in assaults on ICE agents...

New from me, paywalled from now: an appreciation of THE YAGE LETTERS, the only psychedelic diary that reads like a W.C. Fields routine.

If the headline of your obituary says you duped the Nazis *and* illuminated the cosmos, you led a full life.

The base has yet to fall in line: "Among Trump voters, 46 percent support airstrikes while 26 percent are opposed and 28 percent are unsure."

I've always been a "Hawley's a right-wing progressive, not a right-wing populist" guy, but for once he's sounding more like William Jennings Bryan than Theodore Roosevelt.

So the message is that...Iran itself is a weapon of mass destruction and should be completely destroyed?

The next time you see a figure like "413% increase in assaults against them," remember what they count as an "assault"

I was going to crack that this was unfair to Bush because at least he asked for an AUMF. But they're probably prepared to pretend that a Bush-era AUMF covers war with Iran, so...

Catching up on this story—look, a lot of other stuff's been going on today—I see the Minnesota cops are now saying that Vance Boelter's notebook is *not* a "manifesto."

The "whoever he last spoke with" rule strikes again.

Welcome to America, where we track foreign policy by watching pizzas and track the weather by watching waffles.

If that's what Trump was trying to say, it would mean that he does not know the difference between telling people to evacuate the city and telling them to evacuate to the nearest shelt— Yeah, OK, that's pretty plausible.

Hey look, it's the "most libertarian president ever"

I feel compelled to note that New York has had a DSA mayor before. DSA, granted, was a somewhat different organization back then.

Look like they finally found the guy who did this

I'm feeling a nice charge of old-school internet utopianism. Though not so much that I expect this to stop any bombs from falling.

One of those music obits where I did not recognize the name of the deceased, but realized as I read it that I had encountered his work in at least three entirely different contexts.

It's a credit to Klippenstein that I was checking his feed earlier today *just in case* he had managed to get the Minnesota assassin's manifesto. This isn't that, but it's still interesting.

I was all set to mock this quote, but then I remembered that history began in 2023.
