Reading/listening to old games coverage is always massively embarrassing. "Games need to grow up, games need to demonstrate that they are a fully artistic medium in their own right, and Heavy Rain goes a long way toward moving it in that direction."

Tried a new writing style to articulate why this game that has been stuck in my head for so long.

Hello hello, a new blog post is here! I wrote about Known Mysteries from @solarserver.games, a solar-powered game I wish I played sooner. It has a great story, eerie but eye-catching visuals, and enough real-world parallels to remind me why climate justice is urgent: exalclaw.com/2025/05/22/k...

Closing off the month at Stop Caring with this beautiful, poetic, evocative piece by @aglhrm.bsky.social On oil paintings, Dark Souls 3, and what we do with the end of the world. You are missing out if you don't read this! Guilherme's paintings are worth the price of admission alone.

Read ~60 reviews from 8 different websites to compile together what reviewers nowadays value, how they talk about games, and other light observations. It is naturally quite long. Also I anonymized the reviewers and gave them the names of MGS characters. breakingarrows.substack.com/p/who-is-wri...

Ana Valens, journalist, keeps getting harassed by the worst loli-loving, basement-dwelling, neckbearded little nazis on the internet, and I honestly haven't seen a targeted harassment campaign like this in years. Maybe since the gamergate days.

what is happening to Ana Valens should be outrageous to anyone who fancies themselves a journalist.

Fourteen Thousand. The long campaign to dehumanize Palestinians is, fundamentally, about this. To provide cover for the annihilation of a people and their culture, from the youngest to the oldest, to shrugs from the most powerful nations in the world.

Recently read Orson Welles installment of Conversations with Filmmakers, thread of good quotes

Sure. First two are recent pick ups (as in 2018/19), Naruto definitely imprinted onto me in high school.

Nothing Ana has written justifies the hate coming her way. None of our problems with nu-Waypoint should excuse the silence that has followed her harassment and her articles being removed.

I reviewed Despelote, which is at once the smallest game and also the biggest thing in the world. It's a towering achievement and something that will live with me for the rest of my days. My rave for Digital Trends: www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/despe...

This piece is about telling the truth, solidarity, and doing what you can to make the world better. I doubt it'll be popular, but I feel like it had to be said.

We're taking a pause until the June issue. Rather than provide coverage of a new game we had scheduled, we're donating the amount we'd spend on contributors to the current issue to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
