Good morning. Starting the day by watching SOLVENT might not have put me in the proper headspace for lunch with family friends, 2 interviews, & covering a show, but what's done is done. @chattfilmfest.org once again bringing the mind melters to the people

Post the same actor in two roles that show their range

I really do love being able to text someone about doing the theme song for a movie I just watched & then, BOOM, 2 pieces sorted for @thepitch.bsky.social in like, 5 minutes.

Interesting reflections from India Walton, the democratic socialist who won the Buffalo mayor primary in 2021 but lost in the general to the establishment mayor hellgatenyc.com/india-walton...

Laundry's done, book's been read, dishes washed ... in 45ish minutes, there's a dope surprise sneak preview for @chattfilmfest.org & I am in a good place.

Tomorrow night! Be there! But first, read this interview with an octagenarian R&B musician who used more swears than most young punk rockers with whom I've spoken.

New York, famously a city where everyone is a lifelong resident and no one ever comes from anywhere else

Read an entire book today because I'm interviewing the author tomorrow. Being able to do this is a skill that is thankfully very useful as a journalist or English major (of which I am both) because I can't think of another practical application.

De-stressing by cooking from scratch bc we've been living on convenience foods and/or sandwiches & wraps for the better part of a month & a half with few exceptions. It's gotten mildly depressing, so: * Parmesan mac & chz w/ diced fried chicken * Roasted new potatoes & zucchini w/ Italian seasoning

Once again, I am imploring any writer, musician, actor, filmmaker, et al with whom I or any other journalist speaks for an article to maybe fucking share it on their socials. Like, otherwise, why the hell did we even do this? Feeling like a broken record over here.

Edited interviews & posted photo galleries all morning. Now, my only work-related stuff is reading books & watching movies. I also said I'd vacuum, evidently aloud, so I guess that'll happen, too.

Watched the trailer for ROOFMAN & was delighted to discover it's based on a true story. Criminal did a two-parter on it back in April. It's a WILD ride. thisiscriminal.com/episode-312-...

Why leave the house ever?

Went & saw some friends perform at Queer Voices, then came home & took a *second* shower today. I'd like to thank the grocery store next to work for the manager's special chicken strips / mac & chz for my watching movies on the couch late night meal.

Someone has big sads that her mom is in a room with the door closed & 2 kittens inside, so she's taking any port in a storm of emotion. Namely, my lap, whenever possible. Just call me runner-up dad.

Wherein I wake up feeling like death & wonder aloud if I'm getting sick & my wife reminds me this happens Every. Single. Summer when it gets hot out. Oh, yeah. Right. Still sucks, tho'.

One of the most interesting parallels in American life right now is WWE bending over backwards for the Saudis and Trump administration and watching their fans get gradually more uneasy with it, while AEW just grinds away and slowly grows as their talent wears Abolish ICE shirts on cable TV.

I am exhausted. Buuuuuuut there are so many @chattfilmfest.org movies to watch.

Six more images need to finish uploading so I can go play with the fuzzy little ankle-shredding demons.

Fortunato (coughing): You’re certain the Criterion Closet is down here Montresor (picking up a trowel): Definitely. Have you thought about your picks yet

Was gonna watch some movies, but forgot that working all weekend in this heat & wind & kitten acquisition time turns my brain all mushy. Having to make up for all that by sitting & uploading photo galleries for 4 shows, which suuuuuuucks.

Once again, either I am just *AMAZING AF* at doing research or people are startlingly lazy and/or bad at it because holy shit work today ...

IT IS HARD TO CARE ABOUT FRIVOLOUS STUFF WHEN EVERYTHING IS SO BROKEN AND YET WE HAVE NEW DESIGNS AND I WOULD LIKE TO SELL SOME, APOLOGIES roughcutfanclub.com

Got home from work last night & held my car down while @luckynun.bsky.social shaved & cut away all the mats in her fur. Then, the kittens shredded my ankles. I have so, so many tiny injuries. I'm not secret cutting, I just have cats.

Toby Keith is probably touching himself right now.

In the first hour of my shift, I got to fix a door lock & tell someone not to drink behind the store. They had informed me they were drinking behind the store, to which I responded, "Please don't tell me that. Also, please don't drink behind the store." Then I reminded them when I caught them.

Just listened to this episode at the gym, and I would recommend it: there is a clear top-down coordinated effort to get us all to buy into a false narrative about what really happened during the Covid-19 pandemic which we need to be aware of/resist

Susan the kitten fell asleep on my foot. Guess I'm sitting on the floor forever now.

Well, I have found the "oops, all vibes" movie for I do not care at all. Had to happen eventually.

Great new EP from Low Forest. If you like space rock and/or doom, get on it.

Dangerous Visions short film block as @chattfilmfest.org rolls on after a lovely kitten nap.

Been a minute since I did an "open the store on a Friday" shift & as always when it happens, I'm ready for bed by 6pm.

Worked all day. Came home, interviewed the legendary Swamp Dogg, ordered a pizza, & now it's @chattfilmfest.org time!!! Having a Roku is making this year sooooo much easier. That Eventive app beats having to cast from my phone. Starting off with EXORCISMO because a good doc makes me happy.

Literally giving me life (not to get too depressing here, but actually yes suppressing some shit because this brings me joy & I don't want it ruined).

The new Haim is maybe a little too laid-back for my tastes or maybe it's just too early for that much chill, but it's not bad. "The Wire" came up after & that's still a relaxed banger, though.

right-wingers will often say that America deserves credit for ending slavery rather than blame for having slavery. but then we made a holiday to commemorate the end of slavery and they still got mad, which should tell you what their real objection is.

Just realized I need to stop telling folks about growing up as a union worker's kid & bring up the fact that a summer union gig was one of the best-paying, benefits-heavy jobs I've had in my life.

Sony needs to mine this and start using “absolutely unnecessary penis in face of cinema goers” to ads for 28 Years Later
