the poor foster dog is terrified of the coffee grinder. i feel the need to explain. “these are the beans you have to drink when you are a person,” i say. “sometimes things are very very bad. but then the beans happen and it is good.” i can tell she understands

Andry José Hernández Romero, I remember you, even if I do not know how to articulate my horror, rage, & sorrow at your treatment by my government. No one has heard from you in 43 days. As vigil, I’m posting a photo of you every day until you are returned from El Salvador.

Jake Tapper: "One 60 Minutes source tells me, 'The lawsuit was baseless. Bill Owens wouldn't apologize. He wouldn't bend. He fought for the broadcast and for independent journalism and that cost him his job. It's shameful.'"

1. This is so poorly written that the sentence that is -- I think -- supposed to convey a semi-veiled legal threat is incomprehensible. 2. I'm jealous of whichever lawyer gets to write the response.

You set the house on fire, watched it burn, and then lost your nerve and put it out. You now have a partially burned house. Great job.

I’m old enough to remember when I took out a full-page ad in the New York Times last fall to publish a letter signed by 225 mental-health professionals saying that Trump’s severe personality disorders made him destructive and dangerous.

On every issue in the poll, Trump's approval was underwater. Watch: youtu.be/TxfU_cvb658

Thou shalt not let anti-science imbeciles destroy the Department of Education so everyone can be as stupid as they are.

Why?!?

NEW! Sworn declarations filed last night confirm the Trump admin sent INNOCENT people to rot in prison El Salvador, including a professional soccer player jailed and tortured by the Maduro regime, who entered this country LEGALLY to seek asylum, and who has NO CRIMINAL RECORD in either country.

These are the same Senate Democrats who lectured the base for years about the importance of preserving the filibuster so it would still be available when Democrats were in the minority

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House. We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication. They own what happens next.

If you're having a little trouble getting your day in gear, maybe borrow some energy from Rep. John Larson. Watch: youtu.be/6mFpn8BJLV4?...

A federal judge in Massachusetts today blocked an attempt by the National Institutes of Health to cut some $4 billion annually that goes to universities to cover the cost of supporting research on their campuses.

Being able to drop a quarterly US GDP prediction by 5.1% from +2.3% to -2.8% in a single week is one of the most impressive economic developments in the history of the world.

Here I react to the shameful encounter between American leaders and media and the Ukrainian president. No doubt there were more, but I saw five failures on our side: of hospitality, decency, democracy, strategy, and independence. Please watch and share. snyder.substack.com/p/five-failu...

More than 20 civil service employees resigned Tuesday from billionaire Trump adviser Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, saying they were refusing to use their technical expertise to “dismantle critical public services.”

Maddow: I think it is a bad mistake to let Joy Reid walk out the door. It is also unnerving to see that on a network where we've got two nonwhite hosts in primetime, both of our nonwhite hosts in primetime are losing their shows, as is Katie Phang on the weekend. I do not defend it.

I'm looking to see if the cuts & chaos at CDC and NIH have affected any clinical trials or research for drugs for the treatment of cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or other serious diseases. If you know anything, please contact me at DavidCorn.99 at Signal. Or if you have any other good stories.

I think there’s a very good chance that one or more Muskrats were behind this . . .

Per @catgyoung.bsky.social: “The Trump admin just fired key staff at NIH’s Alzheimer’s research center—including the incoming director. With 6.9M Americans affected and cases set to double by 2050, cutting research means fewer breakthroughs and more suffering. Patients and families deserve better.”

Thank you for putting a spotlight on these issues! I don’t think enough people understand the impact this has and will have on biomedical science, healthcare, and the economy.

This is not OK. And it certainly is not making America “great”. www.npr.org/sections/sho...

Important note by @schatz.bsky.social on another platform: “Just a reminder that on Tuesday we are voting on a new FBI Director and if four Republicans decide they don’t like the slashing of law enforcement or the pardoning of cop killers they can express that through the voting part of their job.”

Jasmine Crockett: "The problem is that Americans thought it was okay to take a full fledged criminal and make him the President of the US and then they want to act aghast when he does criminal things. Let me tell you, we have a thug in charge of the US and if we don't wake up we may not have a US"
