Please label your NSFW! 🙏 I'm getting real tired of having to flag posts or flat-out outright block people because they aren't bothering to label it. It takes like... a second just to label it. Please be courteous and label your stuff. Not everyone wishes to see NSFW stuff!

So my girlfriend is an amazing stop motion animator, and she recently did a medieval cat themed bumper for Adult Swim! Sharing it here because she only has Instagram and I think everyone needs to see her animations. She's so freaking talented, y'alls. PLEASE go follow her!

Elizabeth Catlett, Sharecropper, 1952, two colour lino cut. The US artist utilised printmaking with extreme skill to explore themes of her fellow African Americans in a 20th century era of Civil Rights activism #womensart

Change things. My skill stalled for years because I’m stubborn about trying new things, and changing the way I’ve always done art. As soon as I forced myself to try new techniques, and do things differently, my art improved dramatically.

Unfortunately you are going to have to leave your comfort zone in order to improve but it'll be so worth it when you do. Also do figure drawings.

· If you want to improve your art, you have to be willing to step outside your comfort zone. · Study anatomy, even if your art style is cartoony or anime-inspired. · Don’t focus on making it perfect—focus on getting it done. Improvement will come naturally. · Most importantly, draw for yourself!

It might sound like a trivia and maybe it is, but SLOW DOWN when you draw. Don't try to force lines on the paper. Think it through. I found myself repeating the same mystakes as I was so busy to fill up the space.

Don't worry about your art not being perfect. Learning from mistakes is a big part of getting better at art. If you messed up on something, you know what to work on for next time

sometimes we (i) forgot

I need more artists to start making trading card game play mats; it seems damn near impossible to find any that aren’t made with Ai-generated images.

yes

I really love the energy I'm seeing behind "make weirder art" and am 100% for it. Also consider adding to your mantras "support weird art"! I think making weird art is good and necessary, but we also gotta learn to unabashedly hype up, stand behind and support other people's weird art, too đź’•

My biggest process issue is always being way too precious with my art. Its something i always accidentally unlearn and have to relearn and its so annoying

Whenever you feel like your art has stagnated, just look at stuff you made like a couple months ago. Chances are you probably improved and just didn't notice while you were in it.

I think for my drawing, I've never been able to finish the works that I start, but part of that is probably because 'finished' is an arbitrary metric that I can never settle on. I'm starting to work out a certain level of 'unfinished' that is acceptable for me.

with any creative project there comes a point where you need to stop talking about it, stop thinking about it, stop worrying about it, stop asking others about it, stop researching it... and just start making it. and i always, always, always wish i hit that point sooner than i did. #art #design

I’ve noticed a lot of artists REALLY dislike when their OCs are compared to other characters. I don’t. When people say that my characters remind them of/look like something else, I actually enjoy it. It’s cool to see where people identify influences or similarities in character designs. It’s fun.

Painting Tip of the Day: Use the largest brushes you can. They should make you a little uncomfortable. This will, over time, improve your brushwork and ability to say more with less — economy of stroke.

Did you know that back in 1947, a journalist named Orrin C. Evans and his brother, George J. Evans Jr., made history by launching All Negro Comics Inc. in Philadelphia? It was the first Black-owned comic book publishing company in the U.S.! #blackhistory

In case any of my fellow creatives also needed this reminder:
