Some motivation for children's authors right now: I once got to spend a day with an astronaut who's been to space many, many times, and when she found out I wrote books for kids she said, "Oh my god, I'm so jealous! That is like, the dream job! I wish I could do that." Keep writing, #KidLit folks.
