We seem to have fallen into a government situation where the dominant political forces in America are Trump and his majority on the Supreme Court. Together, as a political alliance, they are currently and seemingly impregnable. I think they will both act to keep it that way.

Every year on Memorial Day, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring. They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died. France also gave us this land as American soil.

If Congress valued the Constitution, it would impeach Trump for bribery. The Constitution bans US officials—explicitly including POTUS—from accepting things of value from foreign govts. Ben Franklin famously gave up a gift from France as ambassador. US institutions now see blatant bribery as ok.
